The Appeal

The Saab 99 Turbo is an iconic machine, widely regarded as being the car that started the turbo revolution. With its distinctive Saab styling the 99 Turbo is instantly recognisable and looks great from every angle.

This particular 99 Turbo has undergone extensive restoration to bring it into the condition you see today, and offers a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking for one of these distinctive and increasingly rare cars.

The History and Paperwork

  • Extensive invoices for yearly servicing and MOTs
  • V5 present
  • Invoices from SaabMaster in 2019 that includes rebuilding all four brake calipers and ignition timing adjustment along with a full service
  • An invoice from 2 Stroke to Turbo in 2016 covering extensive work including new front shocks (Bilstein), full service, fitment of a reconditioned steering rack, four wheel alignment, partial interior retrim and fitting a new 5-speed gearbox
  • An invoice from 2 Stroke to Turbo in 2016 for a fully reconditioned cylinder head with custom made valve guides and shims
  • A number of invoices from JamSaab in 2014 that include refitting the rebuilt engine, new rear shocks (Bilstein), extensive steering/suspension components and a number of engine ancillaries

The Interior

  • Retrimmed
  • Excellent condition
  • Seats show almost no signs of wear
  • Headlining, dashboard, door cards and carpets are all in excellent condition
  • Boot lining would benefit from attention

Sliding in behind the wheel of this 99 Turbo you are instantly reminded why they are such sought after vehicles. The deep red interior looks fantastic and the styling throughout is classic 1980s Saab – and as such it's very comfortable. The plush red carpets are in excellent condition along with the dashboard, headlining, door cards and the seats. Overall, the interior presents very well indeed and offers a great driving experience when coupled with the fantastic 2-litre turbo engine.

The Exterior

  • Very good condition overall
  • All five wheels in fantastic condition
  • A few minor imperfections as shown in the images
  • Windows, trim and light lenses all present very well

Finished in black with distinctively styled wheels, this 99 Turbo looks fantastic. Benefitting from having been kept garaged, it presents very well overall with only a few minor imperfections, namely a couple of scuffs on the bumper, some minor blemishes around the wheel arches and a scratch on the driver's side door. Although these don’t really detract from the overall great condition of the car.

The Mechanics

  • Extensive mechanical restoration undertaken
  • Extremely well presented engine bay and underside
  • Very few miles covered since restoration
  • Starts easily, runs well and sounds good

The car starts easily, idles smoothly and there are no unwanted sounds. The owner reports that it drives exactly as it should and pulls well. It was given an engine rebuild in 2014 along with a new cylinder head, new valve guides and shims. Then, in 2016, extensive work was carried out to the suspension and steering systems. As such, this 99 Turbo will make for an excellent, easy to own and drivable classic that's ready for the road.

The combination of being kept garaged and the extensive restoration work mean that this delightful little 99 Turbo presents very well, both aesthetically and mechanically. Perfect for anyone looking for a charismatic, easy to own, hassle free classic.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 5-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00
£100,000+ £1000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
