The Appeal
To keep the ageing 2CV in vogue, Citroën launched a number of special editions during the 1980s, among which the red-and-white Dolly proved especially popular. Powered by the more willing 602cc flat-twin engine, these endearing little cars have become increasingly collectable as symbols of simple, joyful motoring, and good examples are ever harder to find.
This 1987 shows just 53,802 miles on the odometer. The bodywork is reported to be in good order with only minor age-related marks, while the floor, always a critical area on any 2CV, is described as structurally solid. Inside, the cloth seats and hood are said to be in great condition. Mechanically, the vendor reports the engine runs smoothly and has proved reliable throughout their ownership. A number of thoughtful upgrades have been fitted to improve day-to-day usability, and the car comes well equipped with supporting accessories and documentation.
