The Appeal
The arrival of the initially limited edition Dolly in 1985 was instrumental in securing the 2CV’s ongoing success. Its distinctive two-tone colour schemes, like the Bamboo Green and Meije White of this 1989 car, leaned into the characterful ‘umbrella on wheels’ theme that makes these unusual cars so appealing.
The vendor says his family bought this car in 2010. It was soon despatched to specialist Nick Matthews Classic Restorations for an extensive renovation. The quality of that work is evident in the photos; the condition was helped by the subsequent sparing use and garaging. It also reflects £2,900 of checks, welding and rustproofing in January 2026 by Driving Spirit. The car returned there this August for carburettor and ignition system work.
The vendor states the exterior is in mint condition throughout, while the interior retains its original character, with only an aftermarket radio deviating from factory specification. The photos make it hard to disagree with that assessment. This car has clearly been loved and cherished. The current MOT is valid to June 2027 and contains no advisories.
Accompanied by what the vendor describes as a comprehensive service history and with 33,150 miles recorded, this 2CV Special Dolly looks a fine prospect for its next custodian.
The vendor says:
“It’s a beautiful thing to own, love and drive.”
