The Appeal
It was fair to say that the Z1 was a bit of a shock for even the most acclimated enthusiast. BMW were usually such a conservative car builder that nobody quite expected the unconventional and fiercely exciting Z1. Introduced in 1989 with a strictly limited run, the Z1's fierce aesthetics were rendered in plastic, with unusual vertical doors and a sonorous M20 2.5L I6 powerplant.
This particular 1991 model stands out with its rare 'pur-blau metallic' exterior and 'hellgrau' interior, one of only 193 produced in this colour combination. The car has been well-maintained, with a demonstrable 56,556 kilometres on the odometer and the same registered keeper for the past 12 years.
