The Appeal
The 3000GT was Mitsubishi’s entry into the hotly contested late 80s super coupe segment, notably led by Honda’s with its superlative NSX. In VR-4 3L 24V twin turbo 300bhp form, it could hit 60 from standstill in a shade over 5 seconds. That’s quicker than a NSX.
Of the handful of good survivors in the UK, this car must be one of the lowest mileage. It may even be worldwide too. A high performance VR-4 model, it has covered less than 3,500 miles since the vendor’s family acquired it in the USA and registered it in the UK in 1992. it joined an interesting collection of cars that has ben carefully preserved following his passing in 1994. You can read more about that provenance below.
Finished in period-popular ice white with a black leather interior, it is about as close to a brand new 3000GT as it is possible to get. We are told that it is factory standard and unmodified. It is so original that the tyres are believed to be the ones fitted at the factory, although we can’t verify this.

The car has been in storage and off the road since the last MOT expired in 2015. Thankfully it has been stored to a high standard so presents very well in photos, which you can check. We are told that it ran well before being placed into storage. It hasn’t been started since so buyers may want to factor in some recommissioning.
These clever, all-wheel-drive coupes were the supercars of their day. This one will undoubtedly appeal to their many fans.
The vendor says:
"The last recorded MOT certificate expired in 2015, underscoring its 'barn find' status as it has been preserved rather than used. Now emerging onto the market after more than three decades, this car represents a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptional original, and low-mileage example with impeccable provenance.
"A car for the discerning enthusiast it offers not only the thrill of ownership but also the potential for long-term appreciation, a true unicorn and collector’s piece!"

"The owner was an avid car enthusiast curating an eclectic collection that included Porsches, left-hand-drive examples such as a Toyota MR2 and Jeep Grand Cherokee, alongside several Mercedes-Benz models.

Its extraordinary low mileage is testament to a life spent predominantly in careful storage, with outings reserved solely for servicing and statutory MOT inspections."
