The Appeal
We forgot just how technically advanced Japanese sports cars were. The Mitsubishi GTO twin-turbo represents the zenith of Japan's bubble-era engineering ambition. With its 280 bhp twin-turbocharged V6, permanent four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, and active suspension, it stood shoulder to shoulder with the Honda NSX and Toyota Supra as one of the most technically sophisticated sports cars of the 1990s. The 5-speed manual gearbox fitted to this example makes it particularly appealing to driving enthusiasts seeking the full, involving experience.
This 1992 example was purchased in Japan in 2021 and imported to France, where it has been customs-cleared and FFVE-certified with confirmed matching serial numbers. Since arriving in France, it has benefited from a thorough service regime. The vendor describes it as running very well and being very pleasant to drive. Presented in grey over a grey interior, it shows well for its age: bodywork and paintwork are in good general condition, while the interior presents tidily with only minor imperfections to the seat fabric.
With interest in 1990s Japanese performance machinery continuing to build, well-maintained examples in this specification are becoming harder to find.image.png4.69 MB
