The Appeal

Fast Fords have always had a following, with enthusiasts clamouring to get their hands on the best. Every so often, though, a very special one comes along that deserves even more attention than normal. If you’re a Ford fan, this car is an opportunity that you really can’t afford to miss.

Okay, so it’s not a barn-find Cosworth. For one of those, you’ll need six figures. What it is, though, is a genuine, gorgeous and unrestored fast Sierra. Indeed, it’s Ford’s ultimate Q-Car – and with just 31k on the clock, this one is a genuine collector’s item, presented in absolutely incredible condition inside and out. Standard, unspoilt, and such a genuine time warp that it even comes with a 1990s can of De Icer and a packet of Handy Andies in the glove compartment.

Aside from that, it’s the range-topping Sierra and also one of the very last – first registered in January 1993, just six weeks before the new Mondeo went on sale – and has been kept in private storage for many years. Since 2006, it has recorded fewer than 500 miles on the odometer, so it’s not a car that has been seen regularly on the Ford circuit. Being a late XR4x4 as well, it’s also a bit of a sleeper. It was registered at the height of the 1990s car crime boom, where insurance premiums were spiralling upwards, meaning that it was deliberately styled to appear unassuming – there are no whale tails here, just subtle silver XR4x4 badges and a snarly fuel-injected V6 subtly tucked under the hood.

Then there are the details. The original tax disc, the supplying dealer number plates, the crack-free dashboard and the flawless interior trim. It’s an incredible car that will take very little to elevate to concours condition.

The phrase “find another” is often overused in the classic car world. But in this case it couldn’t be more relevant – we highly doubt there is one.
