The Appeal
The supremely luxurious and highly equipped E38 BMW 7 Series was built to rival the Mercedes–Benz’s range-topping S Class and it certainly proved a worthy advisory. BMW’s ultimate version was the 750iL which featured a 5.4-litre V12 engine that sent 326 horsepower to the rear wheels. The E38 was so technologically impressive that it was chosen as 007’s gadget-laden transport in the 1997 Bond film ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ - affording the 750 iL a cool factor surpassing that of its Stuttgart rival.
