The Appeal

When you’ve come up with perfection, best not to mess with it. That was the theory when Mazda introduced the second-generation ‘NB’ MX5. It got a stiffer chassis, a better suspension setup, bigger brakes, and a more comfortable cabin, but the analogue dynamics of the original and its looks remained.

Despite the multifold charms of these cars, this silver 1.8L car has covered a mere 21,283 miles in its 26 years. It’s been in the same family throughout that time, with just two registered keepers, and always garaged. In recent years, it has been used little, but it was once used weekly to keep everything running correctly.

“The original owner is now 93, and he used the car for local mileage mainly until he was 88, at which point the car was passed to his daughter. The only reason we are selling the car is the fact that we hardly use it, which is partly due to the fact that I have back issues and find it uncomfortable to get into the seat. It is though, fun to drive.

“It is a very good car for its age, and were we more able to get in and out of the car, we would be keeping it. The marketing pictures will confirm it’s in good condition for its age.”
