2000 Subaru Legacy B4 Blitzen

The Appeal
Subaru and Porsche are two manufacturers that are steeped in motorsport heritage. So when they get together, you can expect very good things to happen. And so it was when they got together to create the Legacy Blitzen, initially available as a saloon before an estate was added a couple of years later.
With robust and proven Subaru mechanicals supplemented with smart Porsche design, the Blitzen really did offer the best of both worlds. Only about 2000 were thought to have been made in total, and it was never offered for sale officially in the UK, so this is a very rare vehicle in this country.
This third generation B4 example has only had two UK owners since import, and is presented in very good condition. With no mechanical modifications we could identify, this is a fine opportunity to acquire one of the rarest Subaru performance models, in stock specification.

- All of the switchgear and trim looks to be in nice condition, with light signs of use

- Air conditioning with front and rear demisters
- Panasonic CN-DV255 navigation system with 7” touchscreen, DVD, CD, MP3, pre-amp and radio
- Sony MiniDisc player / CD changer
- The boot is trimmed with dark grey carpet, which has some staining but looks to be free from significant damage
- Spacesaver spare wheel and toolkit present and correct
- We’re informed by the vendor that everything works as it should
The Exterior
- Factory correct Solid Red paintwork looks to be in very good condition, with only minor blemishes and a few small chips we could see
- All of the bodywork appears to be straight and undamaged, we could see no evidence of corrosion
- Rear privacy glass
- Unique Blitzen bodykit, rear wing and wheels are present and correct
- Original 17-inch aluminium wheels with Gunmetal finish, shod in a set of matched Nankang tyres that look to be quite new and have good tread
- All of the external badging and trim presents well
- The sills looks undamaged and free from damage and corrosion, while the underside appears straight, clean and in very good order
The Mechanics
- Powerful 1,994cc flat-four, twin turbo DOHC 16v engine
- The engine bay looks tidy and clean, with no leaks apparent
- Offers up 260bhp to all four wheels
- Iconic Subaru permanent all-wheel drive system and viscous centre LSD
- Fully independent suspension with multi-link rear setup
- Vented brake discs all round
- Aisin Seiki sequential automatic transmission – a first for Subaru at the time
- We’re told by the vendor that the car runs very well, driving as it should, and that there are no mechanical issues to their knowledge
Summary
JDM special editions are always a bit, well, special. And this collaboration with Porsche is no different. Offering exclusive styling touches and a whole raft of bits and pieces from STi’s performance cabinet, the Legacy Blitzen is one of those cars that really works its way under your skin.
If you’re after a very capable performance machine that is almost guaranteed to put a smile on your face every time you see it, then look no further.
