  • Subject to rigorous regular maintenance and servicing

The Appeal

After two years of regulations, guidelines and travel restrictions, the idea of motorhome holidaying has never seemed more appealing. The ability to simply jump in the trusty steed and head off wherever the mood takes is one that can't be beaten.
Due to the booming market, demand for good quality motorhomes is soaring to what seems like an all time high and such campers like this mighty Citroën are truly something of a rarity.
Subject to an incredibly high quality conversion, this six wheeled former medical unit presents wonderfully and is an ideal mile munching campervan with space for the whole family.
With a long advisory free MOT, this lovely Citroen is primed and ready for its next adventure.

The History and Paperwork

  • Bought new by charity AgeUK and sent to chassis developments LTD to be converted into a six wheeled “mobile chiropody unit” at a cost of around 70 thousand pounds
  • In service for several years before being retired and sold on to a private buyer at which point it was subject to a full campervan conversion
  • Due to the vehicle’s original purpose and on board equipment, the Citroën was subject to extensive regular 13 week inspections, the paper logs for which are still present with the van
  • MOT valid with no advisories until August 2023
  • Correct V5 registration document present with the vehicle
  • Extensive collection of service history from throughout the van’s life

The Interior

  • Excellent high quality camper interior
  • Electric, water and gas installations
  • Toilet and shower system
The highlight of any campervan of course comes in the form of its interior, and this particular Citroën is an absolute stunner on that front. Well appointed with sleek cabinetry, countertops and living facilities the Relay is a great example of just how good a campervan can be both in terms of aesthetics and facilities.
At the front we find the clean and largely original Citroën Relay cockpit, presenting with good quality seats, upholstery and plastics, the Relay has worn its miles well and still provides its driver and front seat passengers with a lovely place to be.
It is beyond the drivers area where things start to change from the norm. A welcoming white and red motif coats the rear passenger compartment, adorning the marvellous selection of cabinets and wardrobes that have been excellently installed around the walls of the rear box section. Here we also find a large selection of drawers with a clean and simple counter sat atop. To prevent movement whilst on the road all of the cabinet doors and drawers have been fitted with locking pop out handles.
To cater for cooking needs we find a comprehensive kitchen setup, boasting a microwave oven, fridge and sink along with plenty of counter space on which to prepare food. At the far end of the camper sits a well sized cubicle within which we find both a toilet and shower setup.
Alongside plenty of storage space, the camper comes fitted with several areas for passenger seating some of which can be folded out into a sleeping area, along with the large bed area installed within the aerodynamic panel above the cab.
On one of the walls of the camper body sits a switch panel used to control various aspects and facilities within the van. It should be noted that one of the switches is labelled “aircon” however we do not believe the van actually has an air conditioning system at present.

The Exterior

  • Rarer six wheeled variant
  • Side and rear entrance doors
  • Side mounted awning
  • Solar panels
Presenting in great aesthetic order, this six wheeled beast can certainly be seen as something of a statement piece and would no doubt turn heads at the campsite. Coated in a clean and simple white paint scheme both the front cab area and bespoke rear box section are of a good nature and highlight very little in the way of wear and age related marking. A neat design choice to distinguish the Citroën from its life in the medical field, a great set of contrasting red vinyl graphics find homes on many of the exterior body panels.
Working well to break up the Relay’s rather large cabin walls, we find a comprehensive selection of windows, trim pieces and entrance doors aiding booth convenience for entering passengers and natural light for the van’s occupants. Above the left hand side entrance door sits a good quality awning ideal for creating an adjoining outdoor space when pitched up in the van.
All six of the Citroën’s wheels present in good order and have been finished well in a contrasting dark grey hue.

The Mechanics

  • Rugged and dependable 2.5 litre engine
  • Rigorously maintained
  • Long advisory free MOT
From a mechanical perspective this Citroën is an absolute gem. Those familiar will know all too well that French commercial vehicles of this era really do seem to go on forever, especially when maintained as well as this example has been.
With the brilliant 2.5 litre diesel engine in this particular example having barely clocked over 81 thousand miles it's a safe assumption to suggest that there is plenty more life left in the unit, with the majority of these engines claiming sky high six figure mileages with no qualms.
Due to the nature of this van’s former life in the medical industry, along with the equipment previously installed on it, the Citroen had to be subjected to rigorous inspections and servicing at regular 13 week intervals, and as such one can rest assured that this is a truly quality example from a mechanical perspective, as anything this van needed, it was given.

Summary

The ultimate accompaniment to your next adventure, this Citroën Relay motorhome really isn't one to miss. With room for the whole family and the wonderful conveniences of home life, this truly bespoke outfit wants for nothing to be utilised by its next loving owner.
Subject to extensive regular maintenance and with a long advisory free MOT, this low mileage example must surely be one of the best ways into motorhoming on the market today.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
