The Appeal
Widely regarded as one of Jaguar’s finest introductions to the modern market, the XKR is a brilliant example of classy British styling and superb performance. The R stands head and shoulders above the base model XK of its time, boasting improved styling, and perhaps most important of all; a massive Eaton supercharger bolted to the V8.
As you would perhaps expect given the age of these cars, tidy, lower mileage examples are becoming rather difficult to find. This particular example, however, has just shy of 38 thousand miles on the clock and presents itself in fantastic condition here today. If you’re looking for a low owner, low mileage convertible example of the legendary XKR, very few will come close to this.
The History and Paperwork
- Low mileage example
- 2 former keepers
- Garage stored
- MOT until August 2023
- Great previous MOT record
- Original Jaguar handbooks included
- V5C document present
- Serviced in April 2022
This XKR is easily one of the more standout examples, now showing a mere 37,845 miles on the clock, with only 2 former keepers noted on the current V5C. As the MOT history will reflect, the vehicle has been kept in great mechanical health, with tyres and a brake light being the only previous comments/failure. Throughout its time with the current keeper, the vehicle has been garage stored, seldom venturing out unless for special occasions and dry weekend drives. It is only now due to lack of use that this mighty convertible awaits its next home, where it will no doubt continue to impress.
Included with the vehicle are the original Jaguar handbooks, along with the original service booklet. Within the booklet, you’ll find a total of 6 service stamps, which also further helps verify the low mileage shown, with just 34,196 miles noted in 2013. Also included are previous MOT certificates, an invoice for the vehicle’s most recent service in April, and the V5C document.
The Interior
- Cream leather interior
- Excellent condition
- Alpine sound system
- Burl Walnut trim
- Heated & electric front seats
- Multi-function steering wheel
As you would expect given the low mileage, the interior presents itself beautifully and offers a superb balance of comfort, technology, and classy Jaguar styling. The cream leather interior genuinely is a superb partner to the Jaguar Emerald Green exterior and helps the cabin retain a rather bright and spacious feeling.
A fine example of Jaguar’s attention to providing utmost luxury comfort can be found in the front leather seats, which are both electronically adjustable and feature heated seat functions. The seats also allow for setting to be saved within the memory system, ensuring your seat is exactly where it suits you each time.
Both front seats are in excellent condition for their age, albeit showing minor bolster wear, marking, and discolouration, primarily to the driver’s seat as pictured. The rear seats, on the other hand, have quite likely seldom been used throughout the car’s life, and look near-new.
Carpeting throughout the interior presents itself very well, and could very easily fool you for being new with a quick dash of TLC. Door cards follow closely, with seemingly only the driver's side showing signs of use and minor markings. All walnut trim throughout the cabin is also in great condition and contrasts beautifully against the cream upholstery. There is a minor amount of wear & tear showing on the driver’s kick plate, although this could likely be alleviated with a few touch-ups if ever desired.
Buyers will also be pleased to know that all electronic functions, controls, and instruments within the interior are believed to be in full working order, allowing you to experience Jaguar’s luxury features as intended. Contact points for the controls also show very few signs of use and look excellent for their age.
The Exterior
- Jaguar HGG Emerald Green paintwork
- 18” alloy wheels
- Excellent condition
- Beautiful X100 Jaguar styling
As the images no doubt reflect, this low-mileage XKR is absolutely gorgeous and shows off the X100’s iconic styling beautifully. The Emerald Green paintwork offers both tones of blue in the shade, and then stunning green flashes in the sunlight, with plenty of metallic flake on offer.
There are of course minor defects noticeable within the paintwork, such as the expected minor front-end marks, an incredibly minor dimple to the passenger’s door, and minor scratching. Whilst the bodywork of this example appears to have aged far better than other examples, there are also very minor signs of surface corrosion noticeable in the inner arch lips. Fortunately, this appears to be rather in its infancy, and could perhaps benefit from only very light treatment. All other defects would also be alleviated by a good machine polish, which would leave this XKR with a superb, mirror-like finish.
The car sits on its set of 18” alloy wheels, which present themselves rather well for their age. Upon close inspection, you will notice minor corrosion to the now 21-year-old finish, along with minor marks along the lips and spokes. That being said, these are only minor defects noticeable upon close inspection, and hardly detract from the overall appearance. The wheels are wrapped in a paired mixture of Falken, and Continental tyres with plenty of tread still left to offer.
The Mechanics
- 4L Supercharged V8
- Automatic transmission
- Recently serviced in April 2022
- Advisory free MOT until August 2023
Hiding under the bonnet is Jaguar’s now legendary AJ-V8, complete in the XKR specification with an Eaton supercharger. This 4L supercharged powerplant provides shed loads of torque, and will happily surprise most cars on the roads today. As modern vehicles seemingly lose their character as the years go on, an almighty supercharged V8 is a sight for sore eyes.
Buyers will be pleased to know that this particular example fires up right away, and happily performs without a single known mechanical or electrical fault. The torquey V8 happily delivers its buckets of power, offering a characterful growl throughout the rev range. The smooth automatic transmission, comfortable suspension, and brakes also all work as intended.
Although not a tremendous amount of paperwork for previous maintenance is present, an advisory-free MOT for the last 8 years offers reassurance that this Jag is as healthy as can be. The car was also serviced rather recently in April and is now more than ready to be enjoyed out on the open road by the lucky new keeper.
Summary
This XKR convertible is a rather standout example, showing off a mere 37,845 and boasting only 2 former owners. The vehicle also shows off an impressive condition both inside and out, along with excellent mechanical health and a long MOT as the cherry on top.
If you’re looking to experience what is arguably one of the greatest Jaguar vehicles of all time, in top-down fashion, this low-mileage XKR is a truly brilliant example to add to your collection.
