The Appeal

More usable, better handling, better quality - the list of ways in which the rejuvenated Series 2 improved upon the original Elise is a long one. Detail tweaks like a better roof, improved cabins and a slicker gearchange ensure that these later cars are increasingly sought out. That they are also, like the original, one of the best-handling cars of all time certainly helps too.

This Ice Blue metallic 2001 Series 2 has had just two keepers from new, the first to 2025, and covered just a shade over 58,000 miles in its 25 years. It remains in good order, as the photos show, and has been maintained well too. The well-ordered history file shows regular servicing, including recent work, and a cambelt and water pump change at 50,660 miles in 2019. The front of the clamshell was repainted in 2025.

Since the vendor acquired the car in July last year, work has included replacing the head gasket and steel water rails and a cylinder head overhaul. Alongside service work, the engine coolant was changed and both door glass seals replaced.

This is a nicely specified S2 where the buyer gets to benefit from all that recent investment.
