The Appeal
The Cooper Sport was the ultimate expression of the classic Mini – the final, most refined iteration of Alec Issigonis's revolutionary design before production at Longbridge ended, finishing off one of the car world's most beloved eras. Finished in the rare Anthracite Black, a colour that shifts to deep navy blue in certain light, with a contrasting Silver roof and Black and Silver leather interior, this is a particularly appealing specification. Only around 1,000 Cooper Sports were produced in this colour.
This example shows 56,100 miles and is accompanied by a history file containing service records, MOT certificates, invoices, photographs and original handbooks. Significant mechanical investment has been carried out, including a professional gearbox rebuild with a new clutch and a new rear subframe, with over £6,000 of documented expenditure supported by invoices.
A previous owner fitted period-style 10-inch JBW alloy wheels with Yokohama A008 tyres in place of the factory Sport Pack arches and 13-inch wheels, lending the car a more traditional appearance with chrome detailing around the wheels and sills, while retaining its genuine Cooper Sport identity - and reversible if desired. The vendor tells us that this handsome car starts instantly, drives well, and feels tight and well-sorted.image.png3.8 MB
