THE APPEAL
If you are looking for the pinnacle of four-door luxury and performance, you will be hard pushed to find anything more capable and classy than the Bentley Arnage T.
Built during the VW group era with the re-instated 6.75-litre V8 power-plant, it was the fastest road-going saloon at the time. It began life as the BMW derived 4.4-litre ‘Green Label’ and the 6.75 ‘Red Label’ was then added in 1999. The R, T and long wheelbase RL models subsequently followed from 2002.
Despite its size and weight, this 3-ton cruiser is surprisingly agile and will briskly reach 60mph in around 5.5 seconds and is quite capable of getting a drift on, as Jeremy Clarkson eagerly demonstrated on Top Gear in 2002. Comfortable, and even relaxing at 100mph, Mr Clarkson “absolutely adored it”.

Supplied new by Bentley Manchester, this Arnage T appears to have been very well cared for by it’s previous owners and has been diligently serviced throughout it’s life.
First registered on the 19th March 2002, the service book contains eight stamps from Bentley Manchester until July 2007 (with a speedometer reading of 49,882) and then two from specialists Bowling-Ryan Ltd, in Bolton.
The current owner acquired this stunning Bentley on the 7th November 2015 and has enjoyed driving it a few hundred miles each year. Reassuringly, It has a ‘Pass’ MOT, valid until the 8th February 2023, and was recently serviced on the 8th March 2022 by specialists Silver Lady, in Bournemouth (see photos).

THE INTERIOR

As you might expect, you are bathed from head to toe in luxury inside this Bentley. From the sporting turned aluminium to the copious amounts of quality leather, wood trim and carpeting - it has it all.
The overall condition can confidently be described as excellent with just a few minor age-related marks here and there. The Belugar black leather upholstery has a pleasing patina and has clearly been looked after.
Naturally, there is a comprehensive selection of attractive and beautifully presented driver instrumentation and an abundance of electrically-operated creature comforts at your disposal. Amongst the many standard features, other attributes included:

- Driver and front passenger airbags and side airbags
- Independent front and rear climate control
- Electric rear window blind
- Rear TV screens
The owner informs us that everything functions as it should, although the Alpine navigation system is out of date.
At the rear, the spacious fully carpeted boot is very clean and contains dual batteries, some tools and the usable spare wheel. The DVD navigation system and a DVD/CD changer are present along with two umbrellas.

This elegant and timeless body is in fantastic condition and the Silver Storm coachwork is extremely presentable. The unmistakable front grille, chrome work, lighting and trim is very good and undamaged.
There is some bubbling around the front passenger door, door-lock, just below the nearside rear passenger door window, and just above the flying ‘B’ badge on the boot-lid (see photos).
Front and rear parking sensors offer protection and the sporty 19” two-piece alloy wheels were refurbished in anthracite a few years ago and are still in great condition. New 255/45 R19 Pirelli tyres were also fitted then and have a reasonable level of tread remaining.
From what we can see, and as per the recent MOT, the underside looks clean and solid and the twin exhausts appear sound.
THE MECHANICS

Under the bonnet we discover an amazingly clean and visually minimal engine compartment. We weren’t able to remove the cover, but just a glimpse of that imposing 6.75-litre V8 is enough to stir the soul.
This 450 bhp engine offers a maximum torque of 645 Ib.ft at 3,250 rpm and VW take responsibility for adding the twin Garrett T3 turbos which help thrust you to around 167 mph.
SUMMARY
This utterly British luxury saloon has all the comfort and undeniable rocket-ship performance you will ever need and could be reliably deployed for commercial purposes or simply waft you and your family around in style. Either way, this beautiful and well maintained Bentley should represent good value.
