The Appeal
A step into the 21st century had been a bit traumatic for the original no-fills automaker, however Lotus stated that out-and-out performance was no longer enough for buyers looking for an Elise, it had to be dragged a little upmarket to keep appealing to the masses and not just the die-hard fans of the agile two-seater. These new luxuries allowed people to comfortably use their Elise on a daily basis (well, as comfortable as can be in an Elise).
Thankfully these new additions would not spoil the excellent driving experience that the Elise would grant in its basic form, the reduction in noise from stones hitting the underside gave you a feeling you were in something a little more substantial. Handling remained unsurpassed and the steering remained precise, and it has levelled the playing field between it and the rival Vauxhall VX220 Turbo.
This particular 111S remained in its previous ownership for the last 15 years, and had been stored properly in a garage when not in use resulting in fabulous condition today. The car also carries with it the original booklets as well as a full service history and the original two keys - a no expense spared lifestyle with loving owners.

Summary
It’s rare you find a well looked after, early Series 2 pop up, never mind a 111S model with all the bells and whistles to make your driving experience that bit more enjoyable. The added sound dampening, air conditioning, and general niceties certainly did not dampen the character of the Elise, it just makes you want to drive it every single day.
This low mileage example has been put on the market with a heavy heart, however the owner must see it gone due to chasing his dream vehicle which has been offered. It will make an absolutely fantastic roadster for anyone in the market - we certainly wouldn’t mind it.
