Car buyers in Japan have long been spoilt for choice, with all manner of niche models to choose from. But it’s often the least expected ones that become cult cars.
The fourth-generation Mitsubishi Delica is one. It’s a fascinating MPV/SUV mash-up that essentially has the body of a panel van, the interior of a people carrier and the drivetrain of a Mitsubishi Shogun, with selectable four-wheel-drive and long suspension travel.
Good Delicas are actively sought-after by those in the know, and whoever ends up with this one looks set to net themselves one of the best – a really nice example, loved and cherished by its current owner and having been used as a combined business vehicle and family wagon for the past few years.
But with his business no longer requiring such a big vehicle, the vendor is reluctantly parting with what must be one of the best Delicas in the UK, not least as a result of the work he’s done to it.

SUMMARY
This is the perfect unusual modern classic that doubles up as both a six-seater MPV and a commercial vehicle, with off-road capability to boot. That’s a lot of boxes ticked already – then there’s the fact that it’s also in wonderful condition. So many Japanese imports fall victim to the British climate and our salted roads, but this one has been properly protected and looked after by an owner who is thorough and diligent about maintenance, It’s a real gem – and quite a rare gem at that, being the 3 -litre V6.
