2005 Mini Cooper 'S' Cabriolet

Highlights

* Very good condition throughout
* Supercharged engine and manual gear box
* Full service history
* Hyper blue with black interior
* Cooper ‘S’

The Background

The convertible Mini arrived on the scene in 2004, some three years after the launch of the successful and popular hatchback. Although it looks like a simple roof engineering job Mini, or BMW, had to make considerable engineering changes in order to strengthen the car’s structure to maintain the original car’s exceptional handling and dynamics.
The roof was engineered to give the option to be run fully or partially open. Available with various engines, the pick of the bunch was the Supercharged 1.6 Cooper ‘S’ with manual gearbox which produced 170 BHP giving it a top speed in the region of 135 MPH and a 0-62 time of just over 7 seconds.

The History

Purchased new in 2005 this Cooper ‘S’ was looked after by Main Mini Dealers and has a fully stamped up service book to reflect the careful maintenance schedule adhered to by its owners.
In 2018 it was purchased by the current owner who has ensured that anything needing doing was done during his ownership while only using the car sparingly during this time, only putting around 2,000 miles on the odometer.
The Cooper ‘S’ has had a recent full service, a couple of wheel bearings have been replaced and a new power steering pump and exhaust has been fitted.

The Paperwork

The V5 is present showing 3 previous owners and there are numerous MOT’s and receipts for repairs and servicing done by the present and previous keepers.
The car comes complete with 2 sets of original keys, service book, handbook and original wallet.
There is a tool kit, jack and locking wheel-nut key neatly stored in the boot.
It should be noted that there is a discrepancy on the MOT mileage in 2008 when it was misreported by the MOT centre as 14,350 instead of 21,435.
The current MOT expires on the 15th June 2022.

The Interior

The whole interior looks in very good condition as you would expect from such a well-engineered and robustly built car and, other than some wear on the driver’s seat bolster the whole interior is in great shape.
The electric hood works smoothly and precisely as does the air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors. The car also has the benefit of rear parking sensors and an upgraded Pioneer Stereo Unit to provide hands free telephone operation.

The Exterior

The bright Blue metallic paintwork and all exterior rubber, glass and lights are all in good condition with only a few inevitable stone chips on the bonnet and a slight scuffing on one of the plastic wheel arches to report. There are a few light marks on the roof material but no rips, tears or nasty discolouring.
The added spotlights at the front are a nice sporty touch and the recently refurbished exclusive 17” five-star bullet wheels sit on run-flat tyres that have plenty of life left in them.

The Mechanics

Mechanically there is nothing sinister report and the next owner will benefit from a well looked after and well-maintained example of this popular little car, that has had a recent full service.

The Appeal

The Mini Cooper ‘S’ is a true sports car with plenty of power and a nimble and well-balanced chassis that looks as good as it goes.
With a convertible roof and a supercharged engine at one’s beck and call there’s plenty of fun to be had this summer and for many summers to come.
