Nicely specified Obsidian Black with black callipers and matching Obsidian Black interior
Superb condition barely changed since it left the showroom
The Appeal
Whereas once Britain excelled at producing big, powerful trans-continental GT cars by the likes of Jensen, Aston Martin, Bristol and Alvis, today just one of those firms continues making new cars and remains a household name.
It is of course Aston Martin. The sinuous yet brutal Vanquish was the car that really launched the firm back into the GT fray and into the modern era. Combining advanced lightweight composite construction with hand-built sophistication, this was a car worthy of the illustrious nameplate. The 520bhp Vanquish S added 60bhp more power and provided a compelling alternative to anything available from renowned German or Italian makers. Just 1,089 Vanquish S cars were built.
This car cost over £184,000 in 2007 thanks to some carefully selected options. With less than 14,000 miles covered since and full Aston Martin service history, this is a fantastic opportunity to buy one of these rare and capable cars much as it would have left the factory 16 years ago.

Black seems to particularly suit the lines of the Vanquish S and in a manner that entirely suits an Aston Martin, suitably underplays the potential of this most potent of cars. It can be an unforgiving colour, highlighting any scratches or stone chips, which makes the condition of this car all the more remarkable. We were unable to spot any stone chips or deterioration, likely helped by the factory-applied Stoneguard and bodycare finishes. No doubt the tiny mileage has also played a part.
The factory 19in wheels are shod with quality Toyo rubber. The last MOT had advisories for the two rear tyres but these appear to have been subsequently replaced. Only a small area of kerbing to the vulnerable nearside front rim slightly detracts.
2007 was the final year of Vanquish S production and later cars such as this one gained revised fixtures and fittings from the DB9. This is most obvious in the centre console area where the aluminium rotary dials and updated switchgear add extra touches of quality.
This car was well specified by the first owner, the black theme of the exterior carried through with Obsidian Black leather seats. They feature optional perforated leather seat panels and are in superb condition, appearing barely used. The same is certainly true of the rear seats.
Elsewhere there is a smart two-tone Platinum and Osidian leather steering wheel and an array of attractive features including an infotainment system and prominent Start button. The condition throughout reflects the low mileage and care of the single owner, there being barely any signs of this car’s age or use.
The Mechanics

520bhp in S configuration
Stiffer suspension, revised steering geometry and larger brakes of Sports Dynamic Package

6spd automated manual gearbox
Aston Martin’s V12 5.9litre engine is one of the firm’s finest achievements, a hand-built marvel that in primed Vanquish S trim delivers a remarkable 520bhp. It is enough to propel the car to 60mph in considerably less than 5secs.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a 6spd automated manual gearbox that enables the driver to switch between full automatic and clutchless ‘toptronic’ control via the steering wheel paddles. That versatility hints at the adaptability of this remarkable car - gentle GT cruiser when required, furious B-road banzai when conditions allow.
The Vanquish S heralded a new era for Aston Martin, one that would blend technology with tradition. With the world moving to electric power it feels unlikely we’ll see cars like it again any time soon. This remarkable example is a chance to celebrate those classic, big-engined British GT cars.
With full Aston Martin service history, this well-specified is not to be missed.

About Max Bids
The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Matching max bids
When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
