Introduced in 2005, the BMW ‘E92’, better known as the Coupé version of the ‘E90’ 3-Series, was a fine example of the Bavarian firm at its best. Sleek and stylish, with incomparable handling, it was (and still is) a fantastic-looking car.
While the car isn’t yet a classic, it’s rapidly coming of age, with BMW enthusiasts going out of their way to find immaculate well-maintained examples that are guaranteed to become collectors’ items in the future given the car’s looks and performance.
This example is ripe for preservation, as it has a comprehensive and fully-stamped service history. It’s also a lovely spec – a 330Ci in stunning Le Mans Blue with biscuit-coloured leather, plus the M Sport styling pack and a six-speed automatic gearbox. It has been with its current owner for five years but he’s decided it’s time for a change and has set his heart on a hot hatch.

There’s something incredibly smart and simple about BMW cabins both old and new, and the E92 continues this tradition of being neatly laid-out and unfussy. It’s well equipped, but not festooned with unnecessary buttons or switches, just a simple dial controller, a stop/start button to give it a sense of occasion and some subtle but classy wood inserts on the dash.
It features a pair of neat pop-out cupholders that don’t get in the way if not needed, along with an integrated stereo and climate control system, all of which works perfectly.
The pale beige leather, door trims and carpets are in excellent order, and the matching M-Sport steering wheel is in perfect condition, having been professionally refurbished during the vendor’s ownership.
THE EXTERIOR

The neat and unfussy lines of the 330Ci are set off beautifully by the car’s gorgeous Le Mans Blue paintwork, which is all original and in very good order with just a few minor marks. There are a handful of stone chips on the bonnet and a small chip on the driver’s door, but that’s it.
The alloys are replica CSL wheels in smart condition with a couple of tiny marks, while the tyres are of a good quality and have plenty of remaining tread.
The car currently has a black grille fitted in place of the original chrome one, but the original is supplied in the boot of the car should the buyer wish to return it to original.
THE MECHANICS

In five years of ownership and regular use, the vendor has had no issues at all with the BMW other than a sticking brake calliper, which has recently been replaced. He’s had the car serviced by an independent BMW specialist every year despite covering a low mileage between inspections, and has carried out weekly inspections to keep the fluids in tip-top order.
It has had both BMW recalls – blower motor and battery cable – attended to at a main dealership. He describes it as fantastic to drive, with a smooth six-cylinder engine note and fabulous performance.
SUMMARY
This is a lovely example of the E92 and one that deserves to go on to be a future classic – as it is, it’s pretty much there as it’s in terrific condition, is a fabulous specification and colour scheme and is in great mechanical order.
A fabulous modern classic performance car that won’t depreciate if you continue to look after it properly.
