The Appeal

The second generation Aston Martin Vanquish cleverly balanced the firm’s twin heritage strands: brutally quick GT car and nimble sports machine. Borrowing style from the One-77 and equipped with carbon fibre bodywork and the firm’s sinuous 6-litre V12, this was a hand-built GT unlike anything from Porsche or Ferrari.
For the 2015 production year, Aston Martin introduced a raft of improvements to the Vanquish. They included an upgrade to the later AM29 V12 engine, 8-speed ZF gearbox that offered shift changes in 130 milliseconds, stiffer dampers and retuned steering.
The Vanquish models are amongst the rarest and most desirable Aston Martins.  But production ended in 2018.
For enthusiasts who missed out when these cars were new, this example will be very enticing. It is a chance to buy a virtually ‘as new’ Vanquish with under 1,000 miles on the clock. It is in beautiful Divine Red metallic and equipped with nearly £23,000 of desirable factory options. Carefully dry stored from new until early 2022 when it was recommissioned by Aston Martin Works, it has full main dealer service history and a long, advisory-free MOT.
Rare and in desirable 2015 specification with a fantastic specification, this is surely one of the best Vanquish models to come to market in recent years.

The Vanquish was launched in 2012 and received a range of improvements for the 2015 model year that makes these later cars particularly desirable. These included a switch to the later AM29 iteration of the firm’s 5.9litre V12 and, more significantly, introduction of the 8spd ZF automatic gearbox. This enhancement added two extra gears to the Vanquish and was the first application of this engine in a transaxle arrangement. It delivers shift speeds of 130 milliseconds. At the same time the suspension was stiffed to improve handling and the steering retuned for better response.
Although this car has a number of the features of a ‘Carbon Edition’ car it is actually a standard Vanquish. It was acquired by its first owner who added £22,950 of options to the specification list, including 2+2 layout, black finishes and carbon exterior features and bespoke interior trim with One-77 style steering wheel.
The first owner put the car into dry, de-humidified storage soon after purchasing it. During this time it was started regularly. It was recommissioned from storage in March 2022 by Aston Martin Works, who also serviced the car. The vendor recently had the car serviced again by AMW – who also undertook a full health check that can be viewed in the photographs.
The vendor tells us that during his tenure the car has been stored in a de-humidified environment and started and moved every six weeks. It has also been valeted every month. He is only selling due to lack of space – he has a large classic and modern sports car collection.

The Interior

  • Immaculate virtually ‘as new’ interior with barely any signs of use
  • Well specified, highly optioned interior with black trim and contrasting red highlights
Options include:
  • Contrasting carpet stitching in red
  • Full length piano black fascia trim
  • Garage door opener
  • Heated, ventilated and electric memory seats
  • 2+2 configuration
  • Aston Martin logos stitched into headrests
  • One-77 leather-bound steering wheel
  • Seat accent stitching and panel shelf quilting
  • Red seatbelts
  • Leather headlining
The original Vanquish introduced a new approach to Aston Martin interiors, one that the second generation car continued. Step over the Vanquish sill plates and you could be in no other car – from the ‘waterfall’ centre console to the carefully hand-stitched leather seats, this Aston Martin gently blends technology with hand crafting.
It is in in remarkable condition considering that it is a 2015 car. You will struggle to find any signs of age or wear – even the driver’s seat and wheel retain the factory finish, being bereft of the sheen you might expect from a car of this age.
The first owner clearly had taste when specifying the car. It blends black leathers with neat red accents across stitching and seatbelts. The standard features are already high and have been augmented by the options listed above.

The Exterior

  • Beautiful Divine Red metallic paintwork in showroom condition
  • Carbon fibre bodywork with exposed panels on roof and side strakes
  • Discreet black features including tailpipe, callipers and grille
  • Optional 20" Graphite DT wheels in unmarked condition
  • Condition reflects the fastidious storage regime of both owners
  • Factory fitted protective film
  • Car cover and tracker included
Any Aston Martin is a work of art but the Vanquish is recognised as one of the firm’s best designs. Influenced by the One-77 and incorporating exquisite details like the rear spoiler flowing into the rear arches, it is a shape that works well from any angle.
It seems to particularly suit the Divine Red metallic paintwork of this car, an interesting alternative to the greys, silvers and black usually specified for these cars. It borrows some of the style of the Carbon Edition cars, including the exposed carbon fibre roof and side strakes and blacked callipers, grille and textured tail pipe.

It presents in immaculate showroom-ready condition. The limited use and careful storage regime – including monthly valeting by the vendor’s specialist – ensures that the paintwork and trim are resplendent. The optional 20" wheels, shod with quality Pirelli tyres, are equally unmarked.

The Mechanics

  • 5,935cc AM29 V12 Aston Martin hand-crafted engine
  • 569bhp delivers 0-60mph in 3.8secs
  • Weighs just 1,739kg and 51:49 weight distribution with help of transaxle design
  • 2015 cars got stiffer dampers and improved steering
  • 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox new for 2015 and is lighter and faster than earlier 6-speed
  • New Bosch engine management system for 2015 cars
Any car carrying the Vanquish nameplate has to hit a certain benchmark. On its launch the second generation Vanquish was the fastest accelerating Aston Martin in history, delivering the 60mph sprint in under 4secs.
2015 cars got a host of improvements over the earlier model including stiffer suspension, fettled steering geometry and revised engine ECU. These cars were also fitted with the AM29 iteration of the firm’s superlative V12 and got the new ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. These changes make these later models particularly attractive because they considerably sharpen the driving experience.
This car was stored from purchase to March 2022 in a dry, dehumidified environment. Its first service was in the same month at 613 miles by Stratton. Buyers should note that it was unused during this time, but started regularly, and that the synthetic oils used in these cars do not degrade over time.
During the vendor’s tenure the car has been started and moved every six weeks.
The car has been serviced again just prior to sale – it has covered just 6 miles since – and this work included a full health check, again both by Stratton. The car comes to us with MOT to August 2024 with no advisories.

Summary

The second generation Vanquish combined advanced technology with a particularly Aston Martin approach to bespoke, hand-built crafting.
This is a remarkable opportunity to acquire a virtually brand new Vanquish with a particularly desirable specification. For lovers of the very best British GT cars, this example will enhance any collection.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
