The Appeal
The Ford Mustang is the model that the “Pony Car” segment was named for and is Ford’s longest produced model. In continuous production since 1964 and now in its seventh generation the Mustang is truly the stuff of automotive legend. The sixth generation, from which our example hails, was launched in 2013 and is known to enthusiasts and purists as the S550, Ford’s internal code name for the car.
This S550 will doubtless tick all the enthusiasts’ boxes, too. The S550 was the first Mustang to be factory designed with right hand drive manufacture in mind opening up the UK as a key market for the car. In addition to that this model packs the 5.0L “Coyote” V8 under its long bonnet, which is mated to a six speed, close ratio gearbox. This is all packaged up in a sleek Ruby Red Metallic package with Mustang specific number plate included in the sale. Surely Mustang nirvana?
The History and Paperwork
This Mustang was supplied new in the UK in factory right hand drive
It was first registered in January 2016
Its first registered keeper kept the Mustang for exactly two years
During their tenure they covered less than 8000 miles
The current registered keeper acquired the car in January 2018
He has used and enjoyed the Mustang since then
Under his stewardship he has added around a further 17,000 miles
During this time the car has always been garaged
On average the Mustang has covered a shade over 3,000 miles per year only
Today the Mustang presents beautifully as a highly specified V8 sports coupe
The condition is totally original, too, bar a Mishimoto X-pipe exhaust

The overall condition of this Mustang speaks volumes for the esteem in which it has been held by its two registered keepers to date. It makes our job of pointing out any imperfections all the harder with cars of this calibre. You also won’t need us to tell you what a striking looking car this is. One look at the photographic package will tell you all you need to know and offer up some visual nostalgia for iconic Mustangs of earlier generations.
The all-black cabin contrasts so well with the bright red exterior and offers up a thoroughly modern balance between luxury and sportiness. The sixth-generation cars want for nothing in terms of equipment with too much included to cover here. Some highlights, however, include:

The Mechanics
Fitted with the respected 5.0L Coyote V8 engine
This is a DOHC unit with 32 valves and delivering a glorious soundtrack
Originally rated at 435bhp and a mighty 400Ib-ft of torque
Mated to a Getrag close ratio six-speed manual transmission
Equipped with a limited slip differential and launch control
All you need, in fact, to achieve a claimed sub-5-second 0-60mph time
Braking performance is equally robust with Brembo callipers all round
ABS, ESP and hill start assist also help to keep everything tidy
Bearing in mind the car’s low mileage and service history, mechanical condition is considered excellent. The registered keeper reports no mechanical issues or imperfections. He also describes it as “great to drive with a fabulous exhaust note.” No doubt courtesy of the big V8 in the nose mated to the Mishimoto X-pipe exhaust.
Summary
The more recent Mustangs have always held a clear appeal for UK enthusiasts of American muscle cars. Their lack of official right hand drive models was always a fly in the ointment, however. This was put right in this sixth generation of cars making a uber-stylish V8 “pony car” suddenly a great value and great fun alternative to the usual suspects. As such these cars hold their value well and turn heads and quicken hearts wherever they are seen.
