The Appeal
The 2022 Alpina XB7 is based on the BMW X7, but it’s positioned as a standalone model rather than just another variant of BMW’s flagship SUV. Alpina takes the already large, well-equipped X7 and refines it into something more specialised; quieter, faster, and noticeably more polished. Power comes from a reworked 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 612hp and 800Nm of torque. Despite weighing around 2,660kg, it can reach 100 km/h in about 4.0 seconds, and continue on to 290 km/h. It’s not just the speed that impresses, but how effortlessly it delivers it.
Inside, the focus is firmly on comfort and craftsmanship. Merino leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped dashboard, and an Alcantara headliner all come as standard. The front seats are heated, ventilated and include massage functions, while rear passengers also benefit from seat heating.
Mechanically, the XB7 features Alpina-tuned air suspension designed to balance comfort and control, with ride height adjusting based on speed or drive mode. Rear-wheel steering improves manoeuvrability, helping the car feel smaller than it is at low speeds. Standard equipment is extensive, including adaptive LED headlights, a panoramic roof, and a full suite of driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera.
This particular example was ordered new in 2022 and has reportedly covered just 8 km, essentially delivery mileage only. Having never been on the road in any meaningful sense, it presents a rare opportunity to acquire a near-new Alpina XB7.
