We are pleased to have recently imported from Japan a superb 1990 Nissan S-Cargo snail van finished in the classic white & grey colour scheme.
It was selected and imported by ourselves and arrived in the UK this Spring and started first time after its long voyage from the other side of the world. I personally drove it back from the docks at Southampton to Cheshire, a 200 mile journey that it took in its stride!
Registration with the DVLA is being processed, it should be complete by mid June and I expect the snail to be registered on a 90 'G' plate.
It is MOT'd without advisories to May 2018. We have fitted 4 new shock absorbers, refurbished the steering rack with new seals, fitted a rear foglight and adapted the front sidelights to suit UK regulations. Once it is registered further preparation will be undertaken which will include replacing the cambelt, tensioner and water pump, servicing the transmission and replacing the front tyres.
This example has covered 137800 miles which equates to just 85450 miles at present. It comes with some Japanese service history, a copy of its inspection report and export certificate and the original owners manual. Two keys are present. It was rated as grade 3. 5 in Japan which is a high grade for vehicles of this age.
The overall condition is excellent and the underside is especially tidy, looking more like a sub 3 year old UK car.
For those of you who don't know the S-Cargo uses a 1487cc 4 cylinder petrol engine with 3 speed automatic gearbox. It also has power steering and working Air-Con. This example has the optional porthole side windows and occasional fold away rear seats. It has its original branded overmats and hubcaps.
These little snails are an ideal promotional vehicle or could be the basis of a small business in itself; I've heard of one being used as a mobile coffee bar with takings of £1000 a week! They get so much positive attention wherever they go and values are set to rise further over the next few years.
