This superb driving, ultra-usable 1951 MG TD has come to us in part exchange from Carlisle. The previous enthusiastic owner has overseen the careful re-commissioning and it has proved to be an eminently reliable and usable classic which has formed an important part of his collection over the past five years. Fitted with a smooth and slick changing Ford four speed gearbox, this very attractive TD represents a superb introduction to 1950’s open air motoring. The engine pulls strongly and with good oil pressure, and remarkably for a vehicle of this era, the steering is precise.
Prior to its five years in the North West, the TD spent eight years in Easingwold, York. The TD was purchased in 2005 having being subject of a some re-commissioning and restoration work. The MG TD engine was stripped, re-bored and the crankshaft re-ground before being built up. The cylinder head was converted to run on unleaded, brakes were all re-lined and the car was subject of some cosmetic work.
877 UXE presents very well with nicely aged paintwork, a good straight body and full mohair wet weather equipment. The chrome work is excellent, the engine bay smartly detailed and the interior boasts beautiful leather seats, excellent door cards and dashboard. This is a fabulous driving, on the button TD with proven reliability and can be used with total confidence.
