Originally first registered new in Belgium in 1970 the car was imported into the UK in 1981 and fully restored including Right Hand Drive conversion in the early 2000s by the current keeper to show winning standard .
The car was subject to a bare metal respray in Iris blue and treated to a full interior retrim and mohair hood both in contrasting dark blue by marque specialist Bernard Newbury in Essex
With current mileage at 91600 the engine was rebuilt at 79000 by Mike Pullen of Carrera Sport in Haywards Heath, this was then combined with an uprated 1600GT gearbox . The original gearbox is included in the sale
During the restoration as many New Old Stock Parts as possible were used including wings and engine cover with most other parts coming from VW Heritage
