Mercedes Benz have produced their Sportlich-Leicht grand tourer continuously since 1954, from the early W198 and W121 Roadsters and Gullwing coupes to current R231 models, with their folding pan roofs and 9G-tronic auto boxes. Each and every model and version has been the consummate performer; a paragon of style and mechanical mastery; the archetypal grand tourer. Some have found iconic status on the crest of famous racing victories, others the chariot of choice for movie star, royalty and rocker.
