SUMMARY
This is probably the most perfect used car I've come across in the almost 15 years I've been involved with classics, the condition and feel is almost to the point where you could essentially think of this as a NOS (new old stock) car, rather than a used car. What the buyer will essentially be getting is almost a new W203 C-Class for a fraction of the price when new.
Originally supplied by Mercedes-Benz of Manchester, to its only owner, a 72 year old gentleman who had a life long dream to own a brand new Mercedes-Benz. He realised that dream, and took delivery of the car on 1st March 2002, paying around £27, 000 for it, and kept it right up to October 2018, unti his family had advised him to hang up his keys at the ripe old age of 87!. During his ownership, as you'd expect and can probably tell, the car was treated in extremely high esteem; being kept in a heated, carpeted garage and only used sparingly, and never on snow/ salty roads. This already low use tailed off in recent years due to failing health, with it covering just a hand full of miles in the last five years.
Although the car had been serviced annually, it did need some precautionary re-commissioning, as it had been stood for the last year; this included the following:
* A Brand New Genuine Mercedes 100ah battery
* Set of four new Dunlop Sport Blue Response tyres (the old ones had perished due to lack of use)
* Wheels refurbished - this was done because although the rims were still as new, the factory clip on balance weights had marked the rims
* A full service/ thorough Inspection; although my mechanic found most filters, fluids were like new.
* Aircon topped up (it was still working, but slightly low on gas)
* New Fuel Filter
* New Fuel Pump/ Sender - Changed to the updated part, as the earlier ones tended to fail without warning, regardless of mileage
* New Crank Position sensor - Again a future proofing measure as earlier ones can fail.
* Brand new Mercedes rear door lock actuator - Old one had failed, and I just couldn't fit used a one, to a car like this!.
I'm fairly sure this is the best W203 available, unless someone has a brand new in dry storage somewhere, or there's one in museum. I really can't stress how good this car is, both on top underneath and inside. All the usual what I call "eBay lazy superlatives" apply here (out of the box, mint, time warp, rust free etc. etc.). As to the drive, well just imagine how a brand new car would feel (and smell for that matter), and that's this car.
Whether the W203 (the second generation C-Class) will become a classic, who knows, but that aside, for less than the price of a basic Dacia Sandero, you could drive around in an almost new Mercedes-Benz. Even if it you go on to put 10, 000 miles on the clock over a couple of years, it will still only have covered 17, 000, and will almost certainly be worth more than that two year old Dacia you could have bought instead.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have.
