1975 BMW E3 2800 Limousine, anthrazitgrau metallic with full black leather interior. The car has had two previous owners, supplied new in Germany however I bought the car from its Dutch second owner five years ago. Current MOT until June 2019.
As the photos show, this car is in superb condition and is rust-free. The bodywork has been painted twice, the sides were painted in the 80s and then a full windows-out repaint around ten years ago. The paint is still in fantastic condition with only a small handful of very minor blemishes accumulated since the repaint.
At the same time as the full repaint, the second owner removed the old twin carb 2800 M30 engine and three=speed auto gearbox and installed a much newer fuel injected M30 and 4HP22 overdrive automatic gearbox from a E34 535i. The upgraded drivetrain makes the car drive like a much newer BMW, the overdrive gearbox really shines at motorway speeds.
Since I have owned the E3, the front and rear brake discs and pads have been replaced and all four callipers have been professionally rebuilt. I have also had the front bumper corners re-chromed as they were not as shiny as the new front bumper centre section fitted after the repaint.
There are some very minor electrical faults - the speedometer and rev counter do not work as the rev counter was not wired in to the newer engine wiring loom and the speedometer will require adapted to work with the newer auto gearbox. The heater fan didn't work when I tried it today so I will look to see if I can get it going again prior to sale. The windows are all manual as is the slide-only sunroof, all of which work fine.
As much as I really like this car, I don't really use it as much as I should and I would estimate that I have not even covered a thousand miles in it over my five-year ownership. It is therefore time to pass the car onto someone else who can use ii more than I have.
