AH Sprite Mk IV – Restored/ Heritage Reshell
Launched at the 1966 London Motor Show the MkIV Sprite received the larger 1275cc engine, an alternator, reclining seats, improved permanently affixed folding hood and a number of cosmetic changes (including reversing lights) that brought closer alignment with the MkIII Midget
Originally built in 1968 but not registered until 1969 Milestone Classics Healey Sprite underwent a full restoration during the 1990’s that included a new Heritage shell and a full mechanical overhaul.
Around 3, 000 miles ago the gearbox and clutch were replaced and in 2017 the engine was given a major overhaul including a skimmed head (unleaded) & re-bored , MED pistons/ main/ big end bearings, racing specification high pressure oil pump, MED water pump, high torque starter – the engine has only just been run-in. Brakes, steering and suspension were fully rebuilt and upgraded at this time – just about every component has been replaced or upgraded.
The British Racing Green bodywork is excellent with no sign of corrosion and very good panel fit. The interior benefits from Autumn Leaf leather sears with rare headrests, matching carpets, re-furbished dash and the car will have a new hood at point of sale (new owner to select colour).
The large history file(s) contains Heritage Certificate, MOTs and invoices from early 1990’s, photographs etc.
On the road the car is one of the best driving AH Sprites that we have had through Milestones. The car starts instantly with excellent oil-pressure, accelerates briskly through the gears making all the right noises and simply handles like it is on rails – the essence of a classic sports car.
Ready to be used and enjoyed we expected this stunning car to find a new home very quickly.
