Finished with Champagne Gold metallic with black MB-Tex interior, this W123 230E automatic has covered just 35k miles from new and been in the same family ownership from new until 2017.
When ordered its options included an automatic gearbox, rev counter, central locking, right exterior mirror and tinted glass.
This W123 was ordered in June 1985 from Mercedes dealers, Raceline of Northamptonshire by Mr Wilson of Dunfermiline. Mr Wilson was living and working in Libya at the time so had the car shipped straight to Tripoli. When he passed away in 1987 the car was shipped back to Scotland, transferring into his wife’s name before being put into long term dry storage until 2017.
Thorough recommissioning was carried out in preparation for its return to the road, including new, correct Michelin XAS tyres, a major service, new head gasket and clear Dinitrol rustproofing.
All original books/ manuals are present in the original book pack along with the initial bill of sale, order letters and German registration paperwork.
The car has a Full Mercedes Service History, carried out by Mercedes dealers, Dicksons of Perth, plus the bills for its recent recommissioning. Clear HPI Certificate and two keys.
As the pictures clearly show, this W123 is in incredible condition throughout, but it is also original. This is not a restored car, but a timewarp example that has been perfectly preserved.
Superb paintwork, zero corrosion, perfect brightwork and all the rubber seals are supple and original. The interior is completely unmarked and as new.
The factory steel wheels wear unmarked stainless trims and a set of matching new Michelin tyres.
The original dealer fit Hitachi radio comes with the car.
On the road this W123 is a delight. As smooth, quiet and tight as they come thanks to its low mileage. The 230E auto really is the sweet spot of the range with eager performance, smooth gear-changes and good fuel consumption.
This is quite simply the nicest, most original W123 we have seen. It is as good as you will find and so rare in this condition with this mileage.
