Singer Gazelle Mk VII – Gordon Jarvis Car
The Singer Gazelle VII was introduced in 1967 as part of the Rootes “Arrow” range. It was only offered as a 4 door saloon with automatic transmission and a 1725cc engine although subsequently a manual transmission variant with the 1496 cc engine was introduced. Production ceased in 1970 - the last example also being the last Singer ever be built.
Milestone Classics are delighted to offer to market a superb Singer Gazelle Mk VII that formed part of the Gordon Jarvis collection. Gordon was founder Trustee of the Rootes Archive Centre and Treasurer of the Association of Rootes Car Clubs. He started his career as a Rootes apprentice and spent his entire working career with the group and is remembered as an outstanding business man, engineer and driver

The Singer is a real credit to Mr Jarvis and has been displayed at classic car shows and used on a number of regularity rallies. The engine has been upgraded to a 1725 unit with twin Stromberg carburettor’s and overdrive gearbox (Humber Sceptre specification). The original handbook and service record (9 stamps from 1968 to 1975 & 32, 000 miles) and then a hand written log extends to over one hundred pages for the period 1981 to 2014 when the mileage was 113, 000.
The body work, resprayed in deep blue many years ago, presents extremely well and sets the car off a treat. The original Singer interior is utterly original including wooden dash etc. and is lovely with a light patina and smell that takes you straight back to 1968
On the road the Gazelle is a pleasure to drive having been personally maintained by Mr Jarvis. She is easily able to cope with modern roads/ traffic and the overdrive gearbox makes this an extremely capable and enjoyable classic car
Car’s with this provenance rarely come to market. Equally well suited to road trips across France or simply a run down to the local classic car show this lovely Singer will give years of pleasure to new custodian.
