SUMMARY

This is a stunning example of what has become the much sought after W124 Coupe (aka C124). It also features a very rare specification too, having the full host of factory "Sportline" options.

It was supplied new to a company owner who kept it the obligatory 3 years, after which it was subsequently sold through The Mercedes Signature Used Car Scheme to its long term lady owner of over 21 years. She had the vehicle maintained to the letter, having it serviced beyond what was reasonably require, and as such the service booklet contains an astonishing 31 stamps, which are all backed up by a large A4 lever arch file full of supporting paperwork which essentially documents the entire life of the vehicle so far.

Having spent the majority of it's life in London, the condition of the car is fantastic, with absolutely none with "nasties" typically found on the W124, and I doubt you'll find many better. It's also finished in the much rarer 040 Black, which was an expensive option and shines like the preverbal new pin, and really accentuates the classy lines of this most elegant of coupes.

The drive quality is superb, tight and very responsive in equal measures, and the torquey M102 2. 3 Litre straight four cylinder engine is well suited to the more taught, yet still forgiving, chassis dynamics of the C124 in Sportline guise. It never feels underpowered, and has the added bonus of returning excellent fuel economy.

I've maintained for some time now that these pre-facelift W124's are much better built than the post '93 cars, and as the model range ages, this is becoming ever more clear. These earlier cars tend to suffer much less from corrosion issues, and are also mechanically more robust, and not affected by the well documented throttle body and bio-degradable wiring loom issues that plagued the later M111/ M104 engined cars. The M102 engine (and M103 six cylinder) utilise the Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection systems which is a essentially mechanical system, but with electronic enhancements, but will run perfectly well with the ECU disconnected (try doing that on a modern car!). The wiring it does have will probably last until the next ice age too!. Also, I find these earlier cars, especially the M102 engined versions are generally much cheaper to put right in the rare event they do go wrong.

You'll also hear it, all the time, but in the case of the C124 it's true that values are appreciating quite rapidly now, and I've seen a marked and strong growth in values of this model over the last 5-6 years.

So, if you're looking for one of these elegant Coupes, and want probably one of the nicest available, with water tight provenance and a very rare and desirable specification, here it is.

THE MTSV DIFFERENCE

Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business.

Any other questions, please feel free to contact me via the details on my website. I'm a firstly and foremostly a true car enthusiast of many, many years, and a Mercedes Club Member, so it's a pleasure to meet and speak to like-minded people.

Finally, I'm situated in Keighley, West Yorkshire (Postal Code Area BD21) which is approximately 11 miles from Skipton, and 20 miles West of Leeds.
