Ford Anglia – Utterly Original/ 42, 000 Miles
The new Anglia 105E, was introduced in 1959. Its American-influenced space age styling included a backward slanting rear window/ sweeping nose line & new Kent 997cc engine and the car quickly became a commercial success.
On 14th February 1968 Mr Charles Frederick Riches of Wanstead, East London collected his new Lagoon Blue Ford Anglia Deluxe. Charlie was a banker and used the car until he passed away in the mid 1970’s. His widow, Marjorie, refused to drive the Anglia and the car was kept in the family garage until 1999 with just 37, 317 miles covered.
In 1999 the Anglia passed through Affordable Classics and was purchased by a garage as a display vehicle in their show room before being sold in 2002 to the current keeper.
The 105E is utterly original having never seen a welding torch/ spray gun and is as good underneath as on top. The original paint is lovely with just the odd blemish commensurate with age and no signs of corrosion or body repairs. The original interior is lovely with uncut dash, excellent roof lining, very good seats and factory fitted rubber mats – these are super rare as most have perished and been replaced with carpet.
The Anglia always starts instantly and on the road is a joy to drive with smooth acceleration and absolutely no issues – I would drive her anywhere. The history file includes original VE60, MOT’s back to the first issued in 1971, tax discs, driver’s handbook, a summary of the car’s history, show pictures and various invoices.
Ford Anglia prices have rocketed in the last two years and we anticipate this unrepeatable/ original example to sell quickly
