This is a very special car, presented in truly exceptional condition and recording 7100 miles from new. This is a car well known to us and had been owned by an MG enthusiast near Middlesbrough between 2012 and 2016 and he had known this car for 28 years. Whilst on holiday on the South Coast back in 1987, a family friend came along in this 'as new' low mileage MGB. Having owned an MG when 19 years old, he was interested and ask for first refusal should he ever decide to sell the MG. Unbelievably, 25 years later he received the phone call and travelled down to Dorset and drove the MG north, probably its longest ever trip. The MG has spent most of its life garage stored and as a result, has an ultra-low mileage. Although it has had so little use, it has been regularly serviced and has been beautifully maintained.
UDY 287S has an exceptional bodyshell and excellent straight panels. The car has never required bodywork, has never required welding or any new panels or metal work. It has an outstansing original shell. The paintwork gleams with a pristine finish, it has a lovely deep shine. Two years ago we sold the the MG to a lady who has enjoyed trouble free motoring and prior to that one of our regular customers spent several thousand pounds having a professional chrome bumper conversion carried out and brand new chrome wire wheels. As a result the car presents beautifully with pristine chrome work. The engine bay presents as though the car is six months old, the boot area is immaculate and the interior is outstanding. The MG is first class in every respect.
As expected, it drives like and almost new MGB. The engine is strong with no wear, the oil pressure superb, the gearbox changes up and down smoothly, the brakes; suspension and steering are all first class. The MG holds the road perfectly, is tight, sharp and whilst it comes with an MOT certificate, it will be submitted for a full 12 months test and freshly serviced once we sell the car. UDY 287S comes with its original dealer pack from Henlys (South East) Ltd including handbook, Supercover temporary membership card, Leyland Cars registration card, Leyland Cars change of address notification, new vehicle invoice from 1977, tax discs dating back to 1978 and Passport to service book recording two service stamps. This is a collector's piece and examples like this hard to find.
