SUMMARY
Finished in Polar white, with stunning contrasting blue MB-Tex interior; a colour combination which really sets this car apart from the crowd. If you've never heard of MB-Tex, it's basically a synthetic leather, which looks and feels like leather, but has none of its drawbacks, and is rumoured to be probably one of the hardest wearing substances known to man... I've always said they would have been better covering the outside of the Space Shuttle in this stuff, rather than using those tiles.
It's also among the very first of the W202 C-Class's to be built, and as such it benefited from much better build quality, and unlike later models, the early W202's were much better protected from corrosion. It also means, being an early version, it drives like a "proper" Mercedes, and still retains that solid, quality feel that seemed to be somewhat lacking in the later cars
Supplied by Reliance Mercedes of Chingford, and still carrying its supplying dealer's number plates, tax disc holder and window sticker, this car was owned from new by an elderly gent who bought the car as a retirement present to himself, and whose daughter subsequently inherited the car following his passing. Since then, and since then I've sold this car twice!. This is far from your average W202 C-Class, having only covered a mere 40, 000 miles and comes with an excellent service history, much of it from Mercedes main dealers. All original books and keys that were supplied with the car when new are still present and correct.
Unlike most W202 C-Classes, there's none of the usual rust, and mechanically the car is absolutely superb and an absolute joy to drive. The 1. 8 Litre 16 valve M111 engine is lively, yet very economical, while the auto gearbox changes seamlessly up and down the gears. Ride is supple, yet well controlled and the car still has that lovely "tight" feeling about it, indicative of any well looked after Mercedes.
The car has an excellent MOT history, and the last MOT in September continued that trend, and was passed with no advisories. Also worth mentioning is that this car has never had one of those hideous, and now unreliable aftermarket alarms fitted, that seemed to be installed by Mercedes dealers at the time. Some were well fitted, however most weren't, and poorly hacked into wiring looms, were problems just waiting to happen. No such problems waiting to happen here!
MTSV CLASSIC MERCEDES
MTSV (an abbreviation for Mark Taylor Specialist Vehicles) was born out an incurable and lifelong obsession for anything with four wheels on it, especially those carrying the legendary Three Pointed Star. Established by me, Mark Taylor in November 2005 when the Classic Car market was in its infancy and long before “everyman and his dog” had jumped on the Classic Car bandwagon. Specialising in Classic Mercedes from the late 1970’s, through to the 2000’s, I also frequently have the odd foray into other quality classics and sometimes even modern cars, however the qualification is always that it has to be interesting, and/ or just a little different; my theory, which has served me well so far, is that if I like it, someone else probably will!
My main specialisation is the legendary Mercedes W201 190 and Mercedes W124; I firmly believe these models were about as good as cars got in terms of sheer, teutonic quality, and believe them to be the best cars Mercedes have ever made. I’ve built up a substantial knowledge of both the W201 190 & W124 over many years, which I’m always happy to share, and have recently contributed to a W201 buying guide written by Julian Parish. I also have extensive experience of the most of the Mercedes models within my “band of interest” namely the W116, W123, W202 & W203 C-Class, W208 & W209 CLK, W210 & W211 E-Class, W126 & W140 S-Class, R170 & R171 SLK and the R129 SL-Class. Obviously as time goes on later models are coming onto my radar too.
MTSV has always, and will always focus on quality rather than quantity, and in doing so has earned, and continues to maintain an enviable reputation among its many customers both in the UK and abroad, many who are now three, four and even five times repeat customers, some of which have become good friends too. I’m also listed in the Mercedes Club Directory as a recommended business and I’ve also had several of my rarer cars featured in the motoring press too.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business.
Any other questions, please feel free to contact me via the details on my website. I'm a firstly and foremostly a true car enthusiast of many, many years, and a Mercedes Club Member, so it's a pleasure to meet and speak to like-minded people.
Finally, I'm situated in Keighley, West Yorkshire (Postal Code Area BD21) which is approximately 11 miles from Skipton, and 20 miles West of Leeds.
Thanks for reading my advert!
