Rare RHD example; great classic Q car !
About this car
Our Giulia is an ex South African car, having been registered in Gauteng province (inland and arid) and imported into the UK in 2017.
These cars were shipped originally CKD to South Africa and this one is therefore a factory RHD example. It was first registered in 1976 and is fitted with the bigger 2 litre motor and a LSD. South African built cars differed in specification to other markets, and our car may have had this engine from new (current engine number is stated on the South African Certificate of Registration), as the factory tended to use what was to hand.
This Giulia was sourced in South Africa by the previous UK mechanic owner who wanted a rust free basis upon which to restore his favourite Alfa model as a retirement project. A thorough mechanical rebuild has been carried out by him along with a repaint and retrim, and little mileage has accrued since completion.
Today this Giulia will embarrass most classics with it’s rorty performance. Add to that the stock and sober exterior of the Giulia and you have a recipe for a cool, fun and very usable Q car.
Our Giulia is sold with an age related UK registration.
Bodywork
The reason to buy this car is the rust free nature of the chassis and body. It is bone dry, rock solid and without any unsightly boiler plate patching to the chassis. This straight standard is exceptionally difficult to find with UK RHD cars as the cost of restoration can eclipse the value of the vehicle, so most are compromised.
The paintwork was redone in 2017 and presents beautifully today in its coat of Biancospino white. Brightwork is generally OK with some pickling to the rear bumper and a few parking dings to the front one.
The wheels have just been refinished and are perfect, and a lot of the hardware, door catches and locks etc, have been replated. There are a few abrasions to the original windscreen.
Mechanicals
The engine in our car is in excellent tune, shows factory oil pressure and makes lots of power.
The entire suspension, braking system and exhaust are all recent replacements, with many suspension components having been repainted and replated.
The history on this car has been lost, but it is clear from what you can see that £000s have been spent on parts alone.
The under bonnet is spotlessly clean and nicely detailed.
The battery is new and under guarantee, coil and HT leads are also new and our Giulia has an MOT until September 2020.
Interior
The seats have been retrimmed, the carpets replaced and the door cards are all new. The dashboard is undamaged and the gauges are nice and fresh without fading.
Boot
Recarpeted and complete with spare and jacking toolkit.
Summary
A superb Giulia in a classic colour scheme, perfect for events and shows, or even daily use.
