I recently bought this as I had always wanted a 305, and this appeared locally to me for sale with someone I know.
It's a lovely thing to drive, quite fast with the 1. 9 engine too. Clutch and gearbox are more or less perfect, and the car happily sits at motorway speeds for a long time.
I just can't seem to love it though. I'm well aware of the honeymoon period with old cars but I just don't have the urgency to go and drive it like I had hoped. It's superbly comfortable and good fun to take around challenging roads, but my interest hasn't been piqued in the way I'd hoped.
There are some slight defects with it, although mechanically it seems to be fine. The bodywork is very solid overall, the underside in particular is without blemish as are the inner arches. The scuttle is also rust free.
However the door bottoms are starting to show rust, as is the drivers side front arch, which I suspect was due to damage at some stage. The car was damaged by a bin lorry when with its original owner in 2016, and there is a couple of signs of this, namely a small crease in the leading edge of the bonnet and a torn away bumper mount on the passenger side.
The passenger side front door is very rusty at the hinges. There is a rust free door included with the car, amongst the service history, original carb, mixed spares and original (tyre less) GTX alloys. Those alloys are ripe for refurb.
The choke seems to be a little hesitant at times for some reason. I suspect the cable may need adjusting. The return spring on the ignition has stopped working so you have to return the key yourself, or burn out the starter motor. It's easy to do.
Electric windows work well, as do all dash illuminations. Seats are in great shape. The carpeted boot lining has come away however.
The boot is not original, as it was too rusty. The boot is a solid resprayed spare.
Rides a bit firmer on the alloys it has, all the tyres are healthy looking Bridgestones.
The MOT expires in January 2020.
I'm more interested in swapping this car for a BX, AX, ZX, R18 or something French and of similar era than selling. I don't want to be without an older car. I'd prefer a diesel, but wouldn't refuse a petrol.
Please email for more details. I work very antisocial hours so please email!
Car is ready to drive away.
Advert may be removed if I change my mind.
