This is a rare opportunity to acquire ‘Marathon’ Beetles were produced to celebrate the Beetles World Record production figure of 15, 007, 034 recorded on 17th February 1972. This 1300cc Beetle was subsequently called the World Champion, ‘Weltmeister’ in German, and was painted in a special ‘Marathon’ metallic paint !
Other features of the Marathon Beetle were the sports alloy wheels with chrome hubcaps, leatherette basket weave seats and rubber inserts to the front and rear bumpers.
This particular example is one of the 1400 UK supplied Marathon Beetles of which there are just 160 known to still be around on the roads according the the Marathon Beetle register.
It comes supplied with various old MOT documents, user manuals, service and repair bills etc dating back many years. All of the original “Marathon” features still remain such as the wheels, all 4 hubcaps and the gold medallion on the dashboard to.
The car drives exceptionally well providing ample power through the smooth 4 speed manual gearbox and with everything being correct! The only part of the vehicle that would benefit with some light enhancement is the bodywork which in some localised areas will soon require attention cosmetically.
All in all a Very nice usable beetle which is ready to go. We will MOT this beetle as part of our preparation along with a routine service (although last serviced in July 2019)
