The car is accompanied by a massive binder of paperwork and receipts, evidence of just how fastidiously it has been restored.
Our little MG has fabulous bodywork, with a deep all-over gleam, set off by an equally impressive interior.
Quite simply immaculate inside and out. All the hoods and covers, the chrome trim, the seats, the dashboard fascia, the tyres, the alloy wheels, door handles, bumpers, arches, everything is in tip-top order. The interior has clearly been refurbished to a very high standard and all in all the cockpit has a very sporty yet intimate feel to it.
This is very likely one of the finest examples of an MG Midget on the market, and as such represents a very canny investment for the future, but at the same time this MG is amazingly good fun to drive, with the roof up or down - hence the Midget's enduring popularity.
It's hard to do justice to the scrupulously clean engine bay, better to emphasise that the much stronger 1500cc engine in this particular example (compared to the standard fayre 1300cc version) means this car races along like a whippet.
Especially noticeable when driving this Midget is its superb handling - it corners like it's on rails, and with the rapid acceleration and sharp brakes it makes for a thrilling driving experience. The four-speed floor-change gearbox operates flawlessly to complete the pure driving pleasure of this much-loved sports coupe.
This MG Midget will not disappoint - a true sports car which has been the subject of an extensive restoration, it's as much of a joy to drive today as it ever was, and nevertheless it's priced very reasonably at £5, 995.
