SUMMARY
Originally supplied by Gerard Mann, Birmingham as, I believe, one of their showroom vehicles as it was never registered, until it was sold around six months later by Alexandria Mercedes Grimsby. Now some 31 years on, this is still essentially a one owner vehicle in that it started off life as a company vehicle, being used exclusively by the Managing Director, then on the his retirement he took the car as part of his “Golden Handshake”, keeping it until his death, after which to be enable the family to sell the vehicle, it was registered by his daughter, which it how it eventually found its way to me.
I absolutely love the pure simplicity of this car; it’s got everything it needs and nothing it doesn’t, and is one of those Mercedes of this era that has what on the face of it looks like a bit of a mad specification, but 31 years down the line, it’s that somewhat wacky specification and colour combination that now makes it unique, and somewhat more desirable because of it. It’s also one of the most untouched cars I’ve come across in quite some time, not one thing has been changed since it left the dealership back in 1988, it even had the original dealer fit Blaupunkt Tape/ Tuner. I’m offering the option of the chronologically correct 15 (round) hole alloys at the asking price, however these were available as an option at the time, and they do complements the look of the vehicle. The steel wheels and trims are naturally available if required.
Service history consists of 25 stamps, coming mostly from main dealers, with the last one having been done by myself in November this year at 64, 911 miles; there's also an additional file of accompanying documentation too. I’ve recently carried out quite a bit of preparation work on this vehicle too, as it had spent quite a prolonged period standing after the owners death, however I’m happy to report shes now running, driving and as you can see looking like a dream. By the way, don’t assume because it’s a 200T its sluggish – I was most surprised myself how sprightly it was when I test drove it; its significantly more lively than the 250D & 300D diesels.
So, in summary an incredible well preserved and low mileage example of the now sought after W124 Estate, in a very distinctive coour combination. W124 Estates don’t often come around like this, most by this age have seen multiple owners, with many having been used as a van. This is the total opposite of that, and has quite clearly been someone’s pride and joy for many years.
MTSV CLASSIC MERCEDES
MTSV (an abbreviation for Mark Taylor Specialist Vehicles) was born out an incurable and lifelong obsession for anything with four wheels on it, especially those carrying the legendary Three Pointed Star. Established by me, Mark Taylor in November 2005 when the Classic Car market was in its infancy and long before “everyman and his dog” had jumped on the Classic Car bandwagon. Specialising in Classic Mercedes from the late 1970’s, through to the 2000’s, I also frequently have the odd foray into other quality classics and sometimes even modern cars, however the qualification is always that it has to be interesting, and/ or just a little different; my theory, which has served me well so far, is that if I like it, someone else probably will!
My main specialisation is the legendary Mercedes W201 190 and Mercedes W124; I firmly believe these models were about as good as cars got in terms of sheer, teutonic quality, and believe them to be the best cars Mercedes have ever made. I’ve built up a substantial knowledge of both the W201 190 & W124 over many years, which I’m always happy to share, and have recently contributed to a W201 buying guide written by Julian Parish. I also have extensive experience of the most of the Mercedes models within my “band of interest” namely the W116, W123, W202 & W203 C-Class, W208 & W209 CLK, W210 & W211 E-Class, W126 & W140 S-Class, R170 & R171 SLK and the R129 SL-Class. Obviously as time goes on later models are coming onto my radar too.
MTSV has always, and will always focus on quality rather than quantity, and in doing so has earned, and continues to maintain an enviable reputation among its many customers both in the UK and abroad, many who are now three, four and even five times repeat customers, some of which have become good friends too. I’m also listed in the Mercedes Club Directory as a recommended business and I’ve also had several of my rarer cars featured in the motoring press too.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business. To read more, see my website at - details above
Any other questions, please feel free to contact me via the details on my website. I'm a firstly and foremostly a true car enthusiast of many, many years, and a Mercedes Club Member, so it's a pleasure to meet and speak to like-minded people.
Finally, I'm situated in Keighley, West Yorkshire (Postal Code Area BD21) which is approximately 11 miles from Skipton, and 20 miles West of Leeds.
Thanks for reading my advert!
