With great pleasure Craner Classic Cars are now offering this near-immaculate example of a Wolseley 1500, done out in the striking combination of Yukon Grey coachwork with a beautiful red interior, complete with a stunning walnut veneer dashboard, still entirely free of cracks. The instrument panel is attractively laid out and features a still-working time clock, unusual for a car of this age, since most have long-since ceased working. The interior also features very nice headlining and unmarked thick-pile crimson carpets.
This Wolseley's exterior is fabulous. The arches are rust-free and without any bubbling, and consequently have very sharp edges. Excellent paintwork throughout, and the flawless chrome wheels are paired with freshly-fitted tyres. All the chromework has recently been refurbished - front and rear bumpers, front-grille, etc.
Beneath the bonnet is an impeccably detailed engine bay. The engine itself - 1489cc - is marvellously smooth and quiet; it ticks over flawlessly and keeps up with modern everyday traffic without missing a beat. The excellent four-speed manual gearbox performs just as it should.
This car was kept in dry storage for more than twenty years between 1990 and 2010, and then underwent an extensive restoration, including sound-proofing under the parcel shelf, a new steering rack, rebuilt generator, Waxoil re-application, new seals, hoses and gaskets throughout, and all ancillaries overhauled. The car comes with a huge and frankly engrossing history file - with masses of receipts - documenting in minute detail every step of the restoration process and also, amazingly, an incredibly fastidious maintenance schedule followed ever since. For this reason we have no doubt that the 29, 249 miles on the odometer are genuine. As the 2010 Recommisioning Proposal Form states, "The vehicle has covered just 25, 000 miles from new - the bodywork, paintwork, interior and mechanics all suggest correct mileage... when completed the vehicle will be of particular value for its originality and history."
Since the restoration the car has covered less than 5, 000 miles, and as the DVLA history screenshots below show, the car has passed every MoT test since without the faintest whiff of an advisory:
