SUMMARY
Supplied new by Charles Sidney Mercedes, Bradford (now Mercedes-Benz of Bradford), this is probably the best preserved W210 E-Class I've seen in many, many years, and is probably about as good as it gets, without actually finding one that's been kept in a museum. It was originally purchased by a gentleman from Shipley, West Yorkshire, on his retirement, and used extremely sparingly, hence the very low mileage. The usage subsequently dwindled to almost nothing in recent years as the owner's health started to fail, before he sadly passed away in 2017.
Registered on 1st September 1999, this E280 has had just one owner from new until 2018, when it found its way to me in November of that year, having only covered 19, 600 miles. I subsequently sold this car last year to one of my very regular customers who has continued to keep the car in the style it was previously accustomed to, covering just over 4, 000 miles in his tenure, which has certainly done the car good as it feels even smoother, if that’s possible!. However a change in his circumstances now means I’m able to offer this totally unique car once again.
Its crystal clear this is highly cosseted vehicle, and judging by the incredibly well preserved condition, the car has probably spent more time in a dry garage, than it has on the road; the condition of the bodywork is breathtakingly good, and it's as good underneath, as it is on top!
The car underwent a major service just and re-commissioning before sold it last January which included a set of new Dunlop tyres having been fitted, as it was still sitting on its originals 20 year old Continentals, which although still had plenty of tread, were long past their best. Also at the same time the wheels were refurbished, as the factory balance weights had left unsightly marks on the rims. Although a service isn’t due, I will have one carried out pre-sale.
It also comes with all its original keys, manuals, glove box pack, unopened First Aid kit and tools, infact everything that came with it when new, and the service history booklet contains a more than adequate 11 stamps, and is accompanied by a separate A4 file of invoices and other supporting paperwork. All servicing has been carried out by either the supplying main dealership or respected Mercedes specialists, one of which I know very well, and it was through them, that this exceptional W210 fortunately found its way to me.
As you'd rightly expect, the car drives like it looks - like new! It's smooth, quiet, serene and very relaxing indeed, and the superb M112 V6 makes the car feel rather special too. Cars like this don't come around too often; you sometimes get low mileage or sometimes exceptional condition, but you rarely get them both, and in such ample measures!
MTSV CLASSIC MERCEDES
MTSV (an abbreviation for Mark Taylor Specialist Vehicles) was born out an incurable and lifelong obsession for anything with four wheels on it, especially those carrying the legendary Three Pointed Star. Established by me, Mark Taylor in November 2005 when the Classic Car market was in its infancy and long before “everyman and his dog” had jumped on the Classic Car bandwagon. Specialising in Classic Mercedes from the late 1970’s, through to the 2000’s, I also frequently have the odd foray into other quality classics and sometimes even modern cars, however the qualification is always that it has to be interesting, and/ or just a little different; my theory, which has served me well so far, is that if I like it, someone else probably will!
My main specialisation is the legendary Mercedes W201 190 and Mercedes W124; I firmly believe these models were about as good as cars got in terms of sheer, teutonic quality, and believe them to be the best cars Mercedes have ever made. I’ve built up a substantial knowledge of both the W201 190 & W124 over many years, which I’m always happy to share, and have recently contributed to a W201 buying guide written by Julian Parish. I also have extensive experience of the most of the Mercedes models within my “band of interest” namely the W116, W123, W202 & W203 C-Class, W208 & W209 CLK, W210 & W211 E-Class, W126 & W140 S-Class, R170 & R171 SLK and the R129 SL-Class. Obviously as time goes on later models are coming onto my radar too.
MTSV has always, and will always focus on quality rather than quantity, and in doing so has earned, and continues to maintain an enviable reputation among its many customers both in the UK and abroad, many who are now three, four and even five times repeat customers, some of which have become good friends too. I’m also listed in the Mercedes Club Directory as a recommended business and I’ve also had several of my rarer cars featured in the motoring press too.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don't just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won't notice…I just couldn't do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business.
