Here we have a very quirky more or less unmolested DKW Rotary from the early 80's, This bike has just been retrieved from a collector, the bike has in the last two years been re-commissioned and partly restored + fired back up into life, We have just fitted a new heavy duty Yuasa 18 amp hour battery to turn the beast over + we have given the DKW WANKEL ? : ) motorcycle a good look over with a long road test, we will also supply the bike with 12 months Mot to the new buyer with all registration DVLA documentation / V5c logbook etc.
I can honestly say that I have never ridden such a weird machine in my life its a cross between a Electric / turbine / diesel / rotary / petrol engine contraption = ( A machine or a devise that appears strange or unnecessarily complicated, and often badly made ? )
This weird and wonderful machine feels like you have just wound up a big elastic band and then you have unclipped the release mechanism, WoW Weeeeeeeeeeee.

Although it would eventually prove a technological blind alley, the rotary engine seemed full of promise for automotive applications in the early 1970s. Three major motorcycle manufacturers released models using rotary engines: Suzuki, Norton and DKW. Introduced to the UK market in 1973, the latter’s offering was the W2000 (marketed as the Hercules W2000 elsewhere) which was powered by a single rotor Fichtel & Sachs snowmobile engine displacing 294cc. This fan-cooled unit drove via a six-speed transmission and was suspended from a tubular spine frame, while the rest of the cycle parts were entirely conventional for the time. It goes without saying that its rotary engine was vibrationless, but the little ‘Deek’ possessed other virtues: excellent build quality, superb handling, BMW-like rider comfort and the convenience of an electric starter. Top speed was around 95mph. ‘But even ignoring the novelty value of the unconventional power unit, it’s an outstanding machine in its own right,’ declared by Bike Magazine.
