Description
The Vanden Plas Princess was a luxury motor car in it day with its plush leather and walnut burr interior and 3 litre straight 6 engine (same engine as in the sports MGC & also very similar to the engine fitted in the Austin Healey 3000).
First registered in Somerset as 641 XYD between May & October in 1964, and subsequently exported and registered in Jersey on the 17th November 1968. The car has remained within the same family ownership until we recently acquired it and undertook re-commissioning works.
Works undertaken to include having the braking system overhauled with a reconditioned brake servo, brake calipers and wheel cylinders fitted with new rubber seals and stainless steel inserts fitted. Also, the Princess has been serviced and the fuel system overhauled. A new fuel pump has been fitted and the carburettors have been stripped, cleaned, and rebuilt with service kits and new fuel pipes as required. It also has a new battery fitted. The ignition system has had new leads & caps fitted, new points and condenser, a new started solenoid fitted. The engine bay has been cleaned, and the car set up correctly. It now starts “on the button” and has a very quiet and healthy sounding engine with good oil pressure. The interior has retained the original grey leather interior, which has no rips or tears. The dash and the burr walnut veneer panels have mostly survived well. An original Radio mobile radio is fitted. The bodywork still retains a reasonably good shine, with isolated areas of paint peeling. There are some small areas of surface rust where the paint has flaked and one or two areas that could do with repair work. The chrome is in reasonable condition, complete with all wheel trims and spotlights. The car drives well with a quiet engine, changes gear smoothly with good steering. New tyres would be beneficial as well as some new suspension bushes.
This Vanden Plas Princess is in very original condition have covered only 86, 352 miles from new with lots of scope to improve by its next enthusiastic owner. There are many plus points with this six cylinder 3 litre as it drives and brakes well. With not too much work it could once again be a very good example of this prestigious brand. The car is now located in Dorset for ease of viewing.
There is a vast amount of spare parts with this car which are included in the sale.
