1981 Kawasaki Z250B
A super little Kawasaki in superb original condition having only covered 6, 616 miles from new, with old MOT’s going back to the first one isssued in 1984 and VOSA documentation supporting the mileage.
The Z250B differed from its sibling, the Z250A , in that it had the much nicer wire wheels compared to the A which had the 1980’s cast version, which at the time were more popular, as they were thought to be more ‘modern’. As a result fewer of the Z250B’s with their wire wheels were sold, which in my opinion, are much nicer than the A’s with their cast wheels.
The bike is in fantastic all-round condition as she has only been ridden in the dry and this is reflected in the superb overall condition of the bike. The paintwork has a nice deep lustre and the chromework is excellent all-round the bike.
In March next year she’ll be 40 years old and will qualify to be classified as Historic and this means no need to MOT and free road tax. She was MOT’d last October and had been unused since; just fired up weekly and brought up to temperature, before being carefully stored away and the current MOT expires October 2020.
MOT History is as follows (supported by old MOT’s):
April 1984: 1, 187 miles
April 1986: 3, 947 miles
April 1987: 4, 217 miles
April 1988: 4, 982 miles
The bike was then put into storage for 9 years
November 1997: 4, 990
October 1998: 5, 011 miles
November 2000: 5, 046 miles
April 2002: 5, 059 miles
October 2003: 5, 212 miles
The bike was in storage from 2004 until 2013
February 2013: 5, 224 miles
February 2014: 5, 372 miles
September 2014: 5, 419 miles
September 2015: 5, 662 miles
September 2016: 5, 975 miles
August 2017: 6, 508 miles
October 2018: 6, 605 miles
October 2019: 6, 616 miles
This super lightweight rides very well indeed and pulls strongly and is great fun to ride with a nice exhaust note from the period Motad exhaust.
Having seen the increase in cost for her larger Z siblings and with early 1980’s bikes are on the rise and with such low mileage, this bike will only go one way in value. The Z250 represents a very easy and cheap classic to run and is perfect for Sunday runs out or for club runs.
She comes with two keys, a large folder full of MOT’s, invoices, original owners Handbook, old tax discs, period sales literature and magazine road tests. The V5 in my name, is present, along with numerous spares for the bike.
A video of the bike running can be shared; just message me and I will send you a link.
If you send me your email address I am happy to send you high-res images of the bike via a We Transfer link.
Viewing most welcome (social distancing to be strictly adhered to) near Henley-on-Thames: RG9 5NB and I can help with courier/ or delivery if required, again observing strict social distancing practices.
A cracking little bike at just £2, 195
