Here at Old Colonel Cars we have an absolutely superb example of the Alpina B10 4. 6 V8 Individual. If I was picking an E39, having seen this car, this is the colour I would choose. An October 2000 example, it has covered only 64, 000 miles. I am selling this Alpina on behalf of a client with a superb collection, with some of the best Alpina’s in the country. This car is now reluctantly for sale due to a move and a reduction in storage. This car was recently magazine featured, its certainly one for the Alpina or BMW collector.
Specification
This example is finished in a vary rare colour, Velvet Royal Blue Metallic. Inside this Alpina is just as special, finished in the perfect colour combination, Lavolina Cream extended leather with matching Velvet Blue piping and deep pile carpets.
This is a very rare colour combination, believed to be 1 of 3 produced.

Bodywork / Interior / Wheels etc
The bodywork and paintwork on this Alpina are immaculate. It has the deepest all over shine, the colour changes dependent on light conditions, it really stands out. Obviously no rust, no noticeable dings or dents. This B10 features the Alpina side decals which look superb.
As with most Alpina’s, the paintwork seems to have just a little extra sparkle. Look at the video, everyone who has seen this car loves the colour and are amazed by the condition.
Chassis
The sills and jacking points are all in excellent, original condition. Look closer, all the suspension components, the brake lines, all in excellent shape. Its clear to see this car has been stored correctly and lightly used, no surface rust to be seen.
Engine / Gearbox
If you are not familiar with this model, this was Alpina’s answer to the M5. This was not designed to be a direct competitor, as it was more designed for a super fast saloon rather than the more hard core M5. These cars left the factory as BMW 4. 4 V8’s. They were then taken to the Alpina factory. The engine was modified by increasing the displacement to 4619 cc, new crankshaft, re profiled camshafts, lighter higher compression Mahle pistons and a re-programmed engine management, along with re profiled and ported cylinder heads. This along with suspension / wheels / exhaust / gearbox upgrades resulted in a car with 340 BHP and amazing amounts of torque. Alpina claim 172 MPH if the mood takes you with a 0-60 time of 5. 9 seconds, but road-tests indicate these figure might be on the conservative side.
These performance figures are impressive, but the main achievement in my eyes is the way they made all these improvements whilst still leaving a perfectly usable daily car, yet had stunning performance when needed. Other than a slightly deeper exhaust note on tickover, its hard to tell this Alpina from a normal BMW V8. But explore the performance and everything comes together and makes sense.
Its staggering, the bespoke Alpina exhaust suddenly makes all the right noises, pops and bangs on the overrun, the instant performance from this large V8 is very addictive, the Switchtronic gearbox with paddle buttons on the steering wheel to change gear works extremely well, I think Alpina got the whole package just right !
History
This Alpina B10 benefits from a full service history. It comes with all the original manuals, a fully stamped original service book and a folder full of Service receipts and old MOT’s, Original sales brochure, Alpina build specs etc.
Last serviced at 62, 749, the big Inspection II Service.
Then another service at 63, 740 including transmission oil service.
