The figures say it all; under 5 seconds to 60mph and 174mph on the Autobahn whilst proving subdued enough to ‘poodle’ around town all day. The 996, first of the water-cooled Porsche 911’s and in the 4-wheel drive ‘S’ the flat six offers 320bhp and the curves enjoyed by its Turbo stablemate. The change to liquid allowed greater options to reduce emissions whilst mitigating the engine temperatures; something the world market was pushing in the late 90s. Our 4S is a 2003 example finished in Lapis Blue Metallic, a special-order colour, as was the Savannah leather interior option which offers minimal wear. All wheel drive allows 273 ft lbs of torque to be transferred with minimal fuss via a conventional six speed gearbox. It shows 131, 191 miles although the engine has covered just 56k; having been replaced by Reading Porsche in January 2006 with uprated IMS bearing.

24/ 04/ 13 Purchased by Jane Ann Kane, wife of Johnson Kane classic car collector, put into storage until 1st May 2019 when it was acquired by Country Classic Cars; owner Paul Gravely authorised replacement of the steering rack, two new radiators plus a pair of air con condensers, starter motor plus battery and full service. The interior leather was re-conalised whilst stone chips and the odd paint blemish were dealt with as both front wings, bonnet and bumper received a respray and all four alloy rims were refurbished.
The car now drives perfectly and performs as any knowledgeable enthusiast would expect and we welcome further enquiries for this desirable example.
