EXTERIOR
Finished in its factory shade of Light Yellow, the paintwork on the Porsche displays a youthful shine and presents well. With few blemishes to note, the 911 is very straight down both sides and retains a lovely aged patina throughout.
Originating from dry US climes this example is structurally excellent and very original, with no welded repairs or replacement panels. It benefitted from a cosmetic refresh some years ago but pleasingly has never required restoration. A ‘72 model such as this is especially rare in that it features an oil filler flap on the right-side rear wheel arch. The newly positioned oil tank improved weight distribution and reduced the oversteer characteristic of earlier cars, but it is not a feature that lasted long.
For a period "Café Racer" look the 911 currently has all bumper trims and chrome side skirts removed although they are in excellent condition and are included in the sale.
INTERIOR
The inside of the Porsche is in great order and benefits from brand new front seats and a Momo Prototipo steering wheel. The original seats are still present with the car and remain in good order, but were removed in favour of a pair of high quality 911S-spec reproductions, which are upholstered in black leather and corduroy. As shown in the pictures there is also the addition of a matching period bucket seat.
The carpets throughout are in excellent condition and are protected in the foot wells by a set of genuine Coco mats. The rear seats remain in fantastic order and the door cards are free from any scuffs. Under the bonnet the luggage compartment presents well. Better still, beneath the carpet the panels are still painted in their original yellow dustcoat, with the black factory wax still present around the suspension turrets.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The engine bay presents in good order and the car is still fitted with the correct matching number MFI engine. The yellow paintwork in the engine compartment is all original. The rubbers and plastics maintain a fresh appearance and even the factory stickers are still intact.
The rare 2. 4-litre mechanical fuel injection engine produces a glorious tone through the recently fitted sports exhaust - the original is still present - and the five-speed box handles the 911's power perfectly through the gears. The car features an excellent history file having always been well maintained. A fresh service will be carried out upon sale.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The 15-inch Fuchs wheels present well and feature matte centres with attractive polished rims. The centre caps have been removed although they are included with the sale. The wheels are shod in a matching set of Pirelli P6000 tyres with ample tread remaining.
During the Porsche's recent re-commissioning the suspension was fully upgraded to RS specification at great expense using only genuine Porsche components. Equipped with Bilstein shocks all round, the car now sits just right and handles extremely well.
HISTORY FILE
This E-Series 911T was registered on 17 May 1972. Since that time the car has covered just 90, 332 miles and is complete with a well-documented and consistent history. The car remains an extremely useable example and should be enjoyed for its excellent drivability.
The complete history file is packed full of receipts and invoices dating back early into the vehicle's life; it is complemented by the original Porsche document holder, owner's manual, and original stamped maintenance book. Period documentation from Porsche is also present including the original bill of sale. Furthermore, there is a certificate of authenticity from Porsche documenting the matching numbers as well as numerous invoices for recent works carried out and parts fitted.
