Lanchester 10 Shooting Brake ( Woodie ).
The only known example in the world.
The is a lot of paperwork history.
Built in 1935 by Mulliners Coachbuilders for a country estate and used by shooting parties.
Very original vehicle.
All numbers matching.
This car has been featured in various publications including History of Lanchesters, The Woodie book and many vintage and classic vehicle magazines.
It has also attended various vintage hill climbs events, 1940`s events and displayed at The Silverstone Classic.
The most important part of the vehicle the lovely ash timber is in excellent condition.
From the windscreen back everything is constructed of ash timber including the front doors.
The front doors are suicide doors enabling easy access into the vehicle.
A previous owner who found the vehicle on the country estate in 1990 had the vehicle for many years.
He carried out a complete refurbishment of the mechanical components on the vehicle including engine, gearbox, running gear and suspension etc.
There are many invioces showing the work carried out.
The underside of the car is very solid and rust free.
The bodywork to the vehicle is also very solid and rust free.
The interior is in very good condition.
There are two front seats and a large load carrying area to the rear.
The timber rear doors are called clam doors.
The top section lifts up and the bottom section hinges down.
The gearbox is of the pre selector type.
A very unique vehicle that would look great displayed in a bygone museum or vintage vehicle collection.
I have taken the vehicle to some prestigious events over the years and it always draws huge crowds of interested onlookers.
Certainly something very different from the norm.
Woodies are noe very collectable especially if the timber is as good as this one.
